INTENDED USE
Factor IX Deficient Human Plasma is intended for the quantitative determination of factor IX in human plasma by clotting assay
PRINCIPLE OF THE TEST
Factor IX is a clotting factor which when activated to factor IXa results in the activation of factor X in the presence of factor VIIIa, calcium and phospholipid. Plasma samples which are severely deficient in factor IX have a greatly prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT). When a patient’s plasma is mixed with a plasma known to be deficient in factor IX (congenital or immunodepleted) the degree of correction of the APTT is proportional to the level of factor IX in the patient’s plasma. | Translation - Norwegian
