Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) is a sheet material made from wood and other plant fibers combined with urea formaldehyde (UF) and other resins under conditions of high heat and pressure. MDF is distinguished by moderate density in the 450-880kg/m³ range, a hard, flat, smooth surface, high scalability, a homogenous internal structure and good physical strength. Its smooth, stable surfaces are amenable to intricate machining as well as painting, veneering, screen printing and lamination with PVC films. During daylight hours I'm a mild-mannered Chinese to English translator, but at night (and on weekends) I transform into a heroic gamer, slaying dragons, building civilizations, and clearing out virus-infected alien hives. My background is in anthropology, but over the years I have become something of a games localization specialist. In the last 3 years I have translated over half a million characters' worth of game content. My translation credits include Runes of Magic, King of Kings 3, Dragon Soul, Magic Campus, and Eligium- The Chosen One, not to mention smaller game proofing and editing jobs.
I understand the importance of exotic and authentic sounding language for creating immersive fantasy and sci-fi environments.
I translate out of both simplified and traditional Chinese scripts, having lived in mainland China for 3 years and Taiwan for 4. I always employ CAT to ensure consistency.
