Source text - Korean 미국에서 유방암은 여성에게 진단되는 가장 흔한 암이며, 여성에서 암으로 인한 사망원인 중 폐암 다음으로 두번째이다. 2004년 미국의 유방암 사망률은 10만명당 22.0으로, 한국의 5.4에 비해 4배 높은 사망률을 보이고 있다. 미국 암협회는, 미국여성에게서 유방암으로 인한 사망이 매년 4만명이며, 8명중 1명꼴 (약 12%)로 유방암환자가 발생한다고 추정하고 있다 . 유방암의 발생 위험은 나이 들수록 증가하며, 가족력, 비만 ,양성유방질환, 이른 초경, 늦은 폐경, 출산경험이 없거나 늦은 초산 등 여러 가지가 언급되고 있으나, 예방적 측면에서 중재 가능한 위험요인은 뚜렷히 확립되지 않았다 . 따라서 조기 검진을 통한 유방암의 관리가 중요하며, 특히 유방조영을 통한 조기 검진은 유방암 사망율을 20-30% 정도 감소시킬 수 있는 것으로 알려져있다. American Cancer Society estimates that 40,000 US women are dying from breast cancer every year, and a breast cancer patient occurs in 8 people (about 12% of ratio). The incidence risk of breast cancer increases as people grow older. Several risk factors, such as family history, obesity, benign breast disease, early menarche, late menopause, not having children or having children at old age, are reasoned for breast cancer. However, there is no clearly defined risk factor that has possible intervention in prevention perspective. Therefore managing breast through screening is very important. It is generally known that screening mammography can decreases the breast cancer mortality rate about 20-30%.
