Концентрация капитала в США достаточно велика, и читатель, должно быть, думает, что российский капитализм в этом отношении лишь повторяет американский образец. American readers may not immediately grasp the degree of monopolization in Russia, which justifies calling its economy “oligarchical.” There is a fairly high concentration of capital in the United States; readers may think that Russian capitalism is merely following that model. A comparison of the two countries, however, reveals great dissimilarities and a deep abyss between them. The 25 biggest corporations in America, for example, account for 25 percent of the market value of all stock shares; the top 500 companies account for 63 percent. Those are high numbers, and they testify to the dominance of big business in the American economy. But in Russia, 50 companies account for over 90 percent of the total market value of shares listed on Russian stock exchanges. Obviously this bespeaks an incomparably greater concentration of capital than there is in the USA. |
