Don't stick your finger in your ear,
'Cause then your ear will find it hard to hear.
You can thump and you can tug it,
but please don't plug it--

That's not a thing I think you oughta try.
You can blink it, you can wink it,
But I don't think it
Would be good to put your finger in your eye.

MY SPRING

How I hoped that when Spring came and I’d behold
All the earth bedecked with flowers manifold
And the sun would send its rays with love and grace
To enfold the cold trees in their warm embrace
How I hoped that through a song of nightingale
Youth and freedom I would once again inhale,
And the sadness lying buried deep inside
Would dissolve, nor would my cares long abide.
So I hoped, and meanwhile did the spring arrive,
Frost-locked earth with lovely flowers came alive,
Trees made ready to receive the guests of spring
Who return from distant lands with songs awing.
Little songster trills and warbles all around,
Flowers dance, and joy and gladness both abound,
I alone stand bitter, sad and in dismay
In the midst of young fresh grass and flowers of May.
Poor and wretched among trees and among blade
All’s in bloom while I alone but droop and fade
By another spring my life has been made short,
I foresee an icy winter as my lot…
