I am a freelance translator (English > Japanese, Japanese > English; Japanese native speaker) based in the U.K. I am a highly competent and articulate user of both English and Japanese.

My experience of business translation comes from working in one of the largest international electronics companies and a major insurance company in Japan. The types of translation I've done include technical specifications, user manuals, press releases, presentation scripts for international conferences for directors, as well as business negotiation emails and letters to other electronics companies, etc. I also have a lot of proofreading experience, and have excellent attention to detail.

Recent projects as a freelancer include:

- Proofreading of product information such as nutritional details;

My educational background is linguistics-related and I have obtained higher degrees (M.A. in Linguistics; Ph.D. in Psycholinguistics & Neurolinguistics) in the U.K. Having direct experience of reading and writing academic papers as well as presenting at international conferences enabled me to acquire not only expertise in specific fields but also skills in reading/writing and speech to professional academic standards.

Having lived in the U.K. for 10 years, I have a deep understanding and practical knowledge of British culture, current affairs and cultural references. I am well versed in colloquial expressions in English and am able to extract their underlying meanings and nuances.
