I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as well as to offer your company my services as a translator. I am a freelance translator who specializes in technical and patent translations. My language pairs are English-European Spanish and Spanish-American English. Even though my mother tongue is Spanish (I was born in Spain), I consider myself bilingual because my mother was born in the US and I have spoken and read English ever since I was child. Furthermore, I am a citizen of both Spain and the United States. I have also travelled extensively to the US and lived, studied and worked there for extended periods.

From February 2003 to March of 2006 I worked as an in-house translator at translation company Vivanco & García, S.L., based in Madrid, the main area of business of which is Intellectual Property and Patents. This company is the first-choice provider of top-quality translations for some for the most important Industrial Property firms in Madrid and Barcelona. During my stay at Vivanco & García, I was in charge of translating and proofreading mechanical patent applications (as opposed to pharmaceutical specifications); I had a rough translation output in excess of 100,000 words a month in the target language (usually Spanish, although I also translated regularly into English) without the aid of CAT tools; thus, my total output amounted to +3,300,000 words during three years.

Presently, I work exclusively as a freelance translator, although my experience as such dates back to 1995. As a freelance translator, I have translated technical, commercial, marketing, and legal texts, but my forte are technical texts: SOPs, manuals, bulletins, etc., as well as patent applications. For this work I like to make use of the capabilities afforded by the Trados software, which I have found that speeds up considerably the translation process as well as guarantees a level of quality that is hard to match by human capacity alone, much less when dealing with close deadlines. I am sure your company is well aware of the advantages of CAT tools in the current translation business environment.
