El fútbol soporta una maldición que a la vez es la salvación de jugadores, entrenadores y forofos compungidos por una derrota. Se trata de una actividad en la que no basta con ganar, sino que hay que ganar siempre, en cada temporada, en cada torneo, en cada partido. Un escritor, un arquitecto, un músico pueden sestear un poco tras haber hecho una gran novela, un maravilloso edificio, un disco inolvidable. Pueden no hacer nada durante un tiempo o hacer algo menor. Entre los primeros, que son los que más conozco, los hay que han pasado a ser buenos por decreto y hasta el fin de sus días gracias a una sola obra estimable escrita cincuenta años atrás. En el fútbol, por el contrario, no caben el descanso ni el divertimento, de poco sirve tener un extraordinario palmarés histórico o haber conquistado un título el año anterior. No se considera nunca que ya se ha cumplido, sino que se exige (y los propios jugadores se lo exigen a sí mismos) ganar el siguiente encuentro también, como si se empezara desde cero siempre, analogía del resultado inicial de todo partido. A diferencia de otras actividades de la vida, en el deporte (pero sobre todo en el fútbol) no se acumula ni atesora nada, pese a las salas de trofeos y a las estadísticas cada vez más apreciadas. Haber sido ayer el mejor no cuenta ya hoy, no digamos mañana. La alegría pasada no puede hacer nada contra la angustia presente, aquí no existe la compensación del recuerdo, ni la satisfacción por lo ya alcanzado, ni por supuesto el agradecimiento del público por el contento procurado hace dos semanas. Tampoco, por tanto, existen durante mucho tiempo la pena ni la indignación, que de un día para otro pueden verse sustituidas por la euforia y la santificación. Quizá por eso el fútbol sea un deporte que incita a la violencia, como decía Cabrera: pero no por las patadas, sino por la angustia. Piłka nożna ma w sobie przekleństwo, które dla graczy, trenerów i kibiców jest zarazem wybawieniem od cierpienia po przegranym meczu. W tym sporcie nie wystarczy wygrać raz, trzeba zawsze wygrywać, w każdym sezonie, na każdych zawodach i w każdym meczu. Pisarz, architekt czy muzyk mogą pozwolić sobie na odpoczynek po stworzeniu wielkiej powieści, wspaniałego budynku lub niezapomnianej płyty. Mogą przez jakiś czas nie robić nic lub tworzyć mniejsze dzieła. W tym pierwszym zawodzie, którego reprezentantów znam zresztą najlepiej, zdarzają się tacy, którzy zyskali dożywotnie uznanie z urzędu, bo stworzyli jedno cenione dzieło pięćdziesiąt lat temu. Inaczej jest w futbolu, tu nie ma miejsca na odpoczynek ani na rozrywkę, a dawne miejsce na podium lub zdobycie tytułu w poprzednim roku ma niewielkie znaczenie. Wymagania (i wymagania piłkarzy wobec samych siebie) nigdy nie zostaną spełnione do końca. Zawsze jest następne spotkanie, każdy mecz zaczyna się od zera. W odróżnieniu od innych dziedzin życia, w sporcie (szczególnie w piłce nożnej) nic się nie gromadzi i nic nie pozostaje, pomimo gablot wypełnionych pucharami i coraz lepszych statystyk. Bycie wczoraj najlepszym dziś się już nie liczy, nie mówiąc o jutrze. Dawna radość nie może wynagrodzić dzisiejszego smutku, wspomnienia nie dają pocieszenia, zdarzenie sprzed dwóch tygodni nie przynosi satysfakcji, ani tym bardziej wdzięczności widzów. Tak samo, ból i złość nie utrzymują się na dłużej, mogą z dnia na dzień zmienić się w euforię i uwielbienie. Być może dlatego futbol jest sportem wzbudzającym przemoc, jak mówił Cabrera; przemoc, która nie wynika z kopania piłki, tylko z poczucia porażki. Z drugiej strony trzeba przyznać, że ma w sobie coś bezcennego, czego brakuje zwykle w innych strefach życia – nawołuje do zapomnienia, a to znaczy, że nigdy nie sprzyja długotrwałej urazie, ale z tego zdajemy sobie sprawę dopiero jako dorośli. | | Spanish to Polish: financial | Source text - Spanish
