Source text - Italian Per favorire l’occupabilità dei lavoratori anziani, dunque, già l’art. 75 della legge 23 dicembre 2000, n. 388 (legge finanziaria per il 2001) aveva introdotto un meccanismo di incentivazione al prolungamento della vita lavorativa da parte di quanti conseguissero i requisiti per accedere al pensionamento di anzianità. In particolare, ai dipendenti del settore privato che maturassero detti requisiti era riconosciuta la facoltà di rinunciare all’accredito dei contributi relativi all’assicurazione generale obbligatoria per l’IVS ed alle forme sostitutive della stessa. La rinuncia comportava l’esonero dei lavoratori stessi e dei loro datori di lavoro dagli obblighi contributivi a tali forme (complessivamente, il 32,70% della retribuzione lorda). La facoltà era peraltro subordinata a due condizioni: che il lavoratore posticipasse l’accesso alla pensione di almeno due anni dalla prima scadenza utile per l’accesso al trattamento e stipulasse con il proprio datore di lavoro un contratto a termine di pari durata. La medesima facoltà era esercitabile più volte e, dopo la prima volta, anche per periodi inferiori ai due anni. Al momento del pensionamento, il trattamento spettante al lavoratore era pari a quello che lo stesso avrebbe ricevuto al momento di decorrenza del periodo di posticipo cui sopra (c.d. “cristallizzazione del trattamento”).	Translation - English To support the employability of senior workers, article 75 of the December 23, 2000 law, n. 388 (the Finance Act for 2001) had already introduced an incentives system to extend the working life of those who were eligible for retirement. In particular, private sector employees, who met the given requirements, were offered the option of renouncing their credit from contributions related to the obligatory IVS general insurance and to its other forms. This relinquishment exempted the workers themselves and their employers from that type of mandatory contribution (altogether, 32.70% of gross compensation). The option, however, depended on two conditions: that workers postponed retirement for at least two years after their first available opportunity to retire and that they arranged contracts with their own employers that lasted for that same period. This option could be used more than once, and, after the first time, for periods shorter than two years. Upon retiring, the benefits claimed by the workers were the same as those they would have received before the aforesaid deferment. No additional benefits would accrue (the so-called “benefits freeze”).

Source text - English In this portrait, the future Pope John Paul II is shown as a young man looking towards the future with a keen sense of duty and an appreciation for the values of education and spiritual sustenance. A talented writer and dramatist, he was influenced by one of the leading nineteenth century Polish romantic poets, Juliusz Slowacki. The words in the lower portion of the painting, During Unrest the Lord will Strike, are the title of a visionary poem by Slowacki about a Slavic Pope who would one day be a “brother” to all humanity. These words would be fulfilled with the election of Pope John Paul II more than a hundred years later. The letters are bordered by Morning Glory vines, which were traditionally known as “Mary’s Mantle” and used as a symbol of the protective nature of the Blessed Virgin. Karol Wojtyla was saved from death several times in his youth, even before the assassination attempt which prompted him to credit Our Lady with saving his life. His left hand clutches a set of rosary beads as a sign of his great devotion to the Blessed Mother. Scrittore e drammaturgo di talento, fu influenzato da uno dei principali poeti romantici polacchi del diciannovesimo secolo, Juliusz Slowacki. L’iscrizione nella parte inferiore del ritratto, During Unrest the Lord will Strike [Durante la perdizione il Signore colpirà] , è il titolo di un poema visionario di Slowacki su un Papa slavo che un giorno sarebbe diventato un "fratello" per l'umanità intera.
