Dieses mittelschwere Pferd von mittlerer Grösse ist hauptsächlich

entstand aus der Kreuzung einheimischer Stuten mit aus Frankreich
und England importierten Halbblut-Hengsten, um die Zucht zu
verbessern. Die eigentliche Selektion begann am Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts.
Die Freiberge sind das Ursprungsgebiet, aber das Pferd wird
heute in der ganzen Schweiz gezüchtet. Früher wurde der Freiberger
vor allem in der Land- und Forstwirtschaft und beim leichten Zug eingesetzt;
heute aber hat er sich zum ausgezeichneten Freizeitpferd entwickelt
und wird sowohl im Fahren als auch für das Wanderreiten sehr
geschätzt. Ein Pferd, das von der ganzen Familie wegen seiner Intelligenz
und seinem ausgezeichneten Charakter geschätzt wird !

9 Welcome to the Jura Mountains, horse country and the home of the Freiberger horse, the only breed of horse that is unique to Switzerland!
This mid- sized horse is mainly brown or reddish brown and has very few markings. In order to enhance the breed, domestic mares were bred with half-blooded stallions imported from France and England at the end of the nineteenth century. The new breed originated in the Freiberg area, but today this horse is bred throughout Switzerland. Originally the Freiberger horse was used primarily in agriculture and forestry and for pulling light loads. But now, the Freiberger horses are considered recreational animals and as such are highly valued both for transport and for horseback riding. They are intelligent and very good natured, making them the perfect choice for families looking for a vacation centred around horses.
