Die Synergien von Biologie und Technik werden in der Bionik – unter dem Motto "Lernen von der Natur" zusammengefasst. Wspólne zależności między biologią a techniką określa się w bionice terminem „Nauka od przyrody”. Przyroda znalazła rozwiązanie wielu problemów, które dla naukowców i inżynierów stanowią do dziś duże wyzwanie. We wszystkich możliwych dziedzinach, takich jak łączenie materiałów, systemy informacyjno-komunikacyjne, czujniki, możemy odnaleźć ślady rozwiązań zaczerpniętych z przyrody. Szczególnie obecnie, kiedy jesteśmy świadkami ciągłego wzrostu cen materiałów spowodowanych coraz wyższymi cenami surowców i energii, trafny jest zwrot w kierunku natury w poszukiwaniu rozwiązań. Przyroda realizuje swoje cele przy minimalnym zużyciu energii, a odpady zwraca ponownie do naturalnego obiegu. Poznanie tych mechanizmów i wynikających z nich nowych rozwiązań stanowi dużą szansę dla rozwoju techniki.
