Alignment and cornea coupling
1. Ask the patient to put his or her head into the head rest. Make sure that the chin sits firmly on the chin rest and that the forehead rests firmly in the forehead rest.
2. If not already done, start image acquisition so that you see a live image of the CCD camera on the monitor.
3. Position the CCD camera such that the optical axis of the CCD camera runs perpendicular to the optical axis of the laser scanning camera. The camera should be on the patient's lateral side. If necessary, adjust the focus of the CCD camera to the apex of the cornea or the region of the eye you want to image.
4. Move the laser scanning camera toward the patient until the patient’s cornea is at a distance of about 5 to 10 mm from the xxxCap of the yyy Cornea Module. Use the adjusting knobs on the headrest to position the cornea, limbus or conjunctiva you want to image towards the laser beam. For images of the central cornea, move the camera until you observe the reflex of the laser beam from the cornea exactly at the anterior pole of the cornea. (see arrow).
5. Ask the patient to open his or her eyes as wide as possible. Move the laser scanning camera slowly towards the patient until the xxxCap contacts the patient’s cornea.
6. A slight contact of the xxx Cornea Module with the patient’s cornea is sufficient. In an optimal adjustment, a thin tear film bridge between the xxxCap and the cornea is visible on the CCD camera live image.
7. You will now see images of the cornea in the live image of the laser scanning camera.
CAUTION! Do not apply pressure to the cornea. Observe the CCD camera live image and be sure the patient’s cornea does not appear flattened. Once contact has been established, do not move the position of the headrest transversally, in order to avoid sliding on the cornea with the xxxCap.
Acquiring images
1. Adjust the focal plane of the yyy Cornea Module to the cell layer you are interested in by manually adjusting the yyy Cornea Module objective. Select the type of images you plan to acquire.
2. To acquire a section image, volume or sequence scan, hit the foot switch briefly and release it instantly. During the sequence scan, you can (slowly) turn the yyy Cornea Module objective to move the focal plane position. A second tap on the foot switch will end the sequence scan. The volume scan cannot be stopped, and during the scan the objective must not be turned!
3. Pachymetry: the Reset button allows you to reset the current location of the focal plane to 0. If the option Auto Reset is ticked, the focal plane position automatically resets at the location where the very first image is acquired. The control displays the current focal plane position in µm, relative to the position determined as 0.
4. Option Auto Save: the images of Sequence and Volume scans are automatically stored. If it is not selected, you must manually save the images by clicking on the Save button.

Richten Sie die Kornea, den Limbus oder die Konjunktiva, die Sie abbilden möchten, mit Hilfe der Verstellknöpfe an der Kopfstütze auf den Laserstrahl aus. Bei Abbildungen der zentralen Kornea muss die Kamera so eingestellt werden, dass die Spiegelung des Laserstrahls an der Kornea exakt am vorderen Pol der Kornea erkennbar wird (siehe Pfeil).
5. Bitten Sie den Patienten, die Augen so weit wie möglich zu öffnen. Bewegen Sie die Laser-Scan-Kamera langsam auf den Patienten zu, bis die xxxCap die Hornhaut des Patienten berührt.
6. Das yyy Cornea-Modul darf die Hornhaut des Patienten nur leicht berühren. Bei optimaler Einstellung wird auf dem Live-Bild der CCD-Kamera eine feine Brücke aus Tränenflüssigkeit zwischen xxxCap und Hornhaut sichtbar.
7. Im Live-Bild der Laser-Scan-Kamera sehen Sie jetzt Abbildungen der Hornhaut.
VORSICHT! Üben Sie keinen Druck auf die Hornhaut aus. Behalten Sie das Live-Bild der CCD-Kamera im Auge und achten Sie darauf, dass die Hornhaut nicht abgeflacht aussieht. Die Position der Kopfstütze darf nach Berührung der Hornhaut nicht mehr verändert werden, damit die xxxCap nicht über die Kornea rutscht.
Erfassung von Bildern
1. Stellen Sie die Fokusebene des yyy Cornea-Moduls auf die Zellschicht ein, die Sie interessiert, indem Sie das Objektiv mit der Hand verstellen. Wählen Sie die Art der Bilder aus, die Sie erfassen möchten.
2. Treten Sie kurz auf den Fußschalter, um ein Ausschnittsbild (Section), ein Volumen oder eine Sequenz zu erfassen, und nehmen Sie den Fuß sofort wieder herunter. Während eines Sequenzscans können Sie (langsam) am Objektiv drehen, um die Fokusebene zu verschieben. Ein zweiter Druck auf den Fußschalter beendet den Sequenzscan. Ein Volumenscan kann nicht angehalten werden; das Objektiv darf während eines Volumenscans auf keinen Fall verstellt werden!
3. Pachymetrie: mit der Schaltfläche Reset (Zurücksetzen) können Sie die aktuelle Position der Fokusebene auf 0 zurücksetzen. Ist die Option Auto Reset (Automatisches Rücksetzen) markiert, dann wird die Position der Fokusebene automatisch auf die Position zurückgesetzt, in der das erste Bild erfasst wurde. Die Steuerung zeigt die aktuelle Position der Fokusebene in µm an, in Relation zu der als ‚0’ festgelegten Position.
4. Auto-Save-Option: (Automatische Speicherung) Die Bilder der Sequenz- und Volumenscans werden automatisch gespeichert. Ist diese Option nicht markiert, dann müssen Sie die Bilder manuell speichern, indem Sie auf die Schaltfläche Save (Speichern) klicken.

Viewing and Modifying Status and Settings
The Status and Settings window enables you to view and modify certain XX device and XX Launchpad settings. The Language setting in particular enables you to select the preferred language that you would like to use for XX Launchpad. Other settings allow you to install an accelerator that starts XX Launchpad quickly on the computer, reset previous XX Launchpad choices and check for updates for XX Launchpad.
To view and modify settings:
1. Insert your XX device into one of the USB ports on your computer and start XX Launchpad by clicking on the XX icon on the task bar. The XX Launchpad Main window is displayed.
2. Click Status and Settings. The Status and Settings window is displayed.
3. In the Language tab:
o From the Language drop-down list, select the language that you would like XX Launchpad to use. A sample of the selected language is displayed in the area below the drop-down list box.
o Click Apply to accept the new language selection.
4. Click the Capacity tab. The Status and Settings window – Capacity tab is displayed.
This tab graphically displays the disk usage on your XX device.
5. Click the XX Launchpad Settings tab. The Status and Settings window – XX Launchpad Settings tab is displayed.
The following options are available:
o Launcher: Click Install the Launcher to install the Launcher application on your computer.
Launcher is a resident application on your computer that detects when your XX device is installed and automatically starts XX Launchpad. This is particularly useful if your computer is set not to auto-run applications, or if you are experiencing difficulties in that your computer does not recognize the CD partition of your XX device.
Note: When Launcher is installed on your computer the Launcher area toggles to Remove Launcher. Click Remove Launcher to remove the Launcher application from your computer.
o Information Messages: Click Reset to reset all Do not show again checkboxes so that all windows, text or confirmation boxes will be shown again.
o Software Updates: Click Check for software updates to check for available software updates.

Status und Einstellungen einsehen und ändern
Im Fenster 'Status und Einstellungen' können Sie bestimmte Einstellungen von XX-Gerät und XX-Launchpad einsehen und ändern. Unter der Option 'Sprache' können Sie die Dialogsprache wählen, die Sie für den XX-Launchpad verwenden möchten. Das Startprogramm ist eine speicherresidente Anwendung auf Ihrem Computer, die feststellt, wenn Ihr XX-Gerät installiert wird und automatisch den XX-Launchpad startet.
