About me

Video Games Translator
Elanex Ltd. July 2007 - Present
Collaboration with translation agency, Elanex in projects for translating and proofreading of games manuals for PS2, PSP, Xbox 360 or Nintendo Wii among others, following the different styles and terminologies required by the final customer.
With them, I have also collaborated localizing an automatic installation menu and in-game dialogues.
S & H Entertainment Localization February 2004 – April 2007
After having collaborated various times with Hans Breuer and Stefan Hahn in proofreading some of their video games manuals I have reached a new status as the main Spanish translator for projects Anno 1701 and Undercover, two video games to be released for Nintendo DS and PC. This project includes the translation of all the game related files such as cut-scenes, global texts, menus, instruction manuals and some screen-shoots.
The project also includes the use, management and creation of glossaries to be shared with the proof-reader and the final client, so to create a permanent term-base for future translations
Games Tester
Testronic Labs December 2007 – January 2008
Being under the supervision of the Game Testing Coordinator, Gareth Winter, I work within a team of Language Game Testers for a project concerning the quality of a quiz video game.
My main duty is to check both the text files and the different game’s versions for any bugs and create an appropriate, clear and well explained report so the developers can fix the bugs. As we are working with a PS3 game, we use the SCEE bug database for our reports.
Online IT Editor and Translator
Master New Media August 2007 – October 2007
Collaboration with Master New Media in translating, proofreading and editing their English articles on IT, computer science, new media, etc.
My main duty was to adapt the English articles written by different people for the Spanish audience of the Website. I used an informal, simple, direct style that looked as if I was speaking directly with the reader. Once the article had been translated, I had to ensure that any reference, link or article related were also into Spanish. And finally I edited the articles following the original article's format using Movable Type so it could be published sooner.
IT and Computer Science translation
Elanex Ltd. November 2007-Present
Collaboration with project managers Richard Schlattmann and Naomi Blanchet in the translation and proofreading of Ning Website, a page dedicated to social nets, similar to Facebook.
The project has included the first translation into Spanish of the Websites main buttons and explanations and three subsequent updates to the site.
Packt Publishing May 2006 – March 2007
Translation of IT related books for Packt Publishing; I also proofread carefully each translated chapter to ensure the translation’s accuracy. Edition of each Spanish chapter following the Packt template and adaptation of Indexes, Table of Contents, Credits and so forth so that their contents might be understood by the Spanish reader.
Translation of legal and marketing related texts for the promotion of the IT book in Spanish.
Source code localization for the book’s example archive, in this case a dbbook database created with phpMyAdmin. Screenshot capturing with Gimp and Paint Shop Pro for the different examples provided in the book. Indexing keywords and important sections of the book which are included in the final Index.
Travel and Tourism translation
Translated.net June 2007-June 2007
Translation into Spanish of the French tourism Website Voyageprive together with a second Spanish translator with whom I collaborated online. Creation a common terminology for the ambiguous terms and expressions of the documentation.
Lingo 24 Ltd. December 2004 - Present
I have a Freelance Consultant contract with Lingo 24. My main duty is to help Lingo 24 with their translation projects as an external worker. Until recently I was collaborating with this translation agency in a long term project that began in December 2004. The project was a translation from English to Spanish of tourism & travel related texts. For this project I used tools such as Trados 6.5, Multiterm 5.5 and SDLX online products. I even created a Travel and Tourism glossary based on the translations I produced for Lingo 24.
