Born and raised in eastern Canada, I started out professionally as a newspaper reporter and features writer, then lived in Spain for 15 years, working as a translator, editor and language school operator. Since 2008, I've been outsourcing an increasing amount of work through my new company, PALABRA Translation and Language Services, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

My specialities involve international development and trade, education, political and social sciences, marketing, finance and economics. My clients include international development banks, communications companies, university presses, provincial and federal government agencies, non-profit organizations, a Spanish foreign policy institute and some of world’s biggest and most demanding translation companies.

I received Spanish>English certification from the American Translators Association in 1998 and from the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Nova Scotia (ATINS) in 2007. I was recently elected as president of ATINS for 2008-10.
