CABEZA FEMENINA
Consecuencia del saqueo del que fueron objeto las catacumbas del panteón de Santa Paula al inicio de las visitas clandestinas hace más de cien años. La cabeza que se exhibe en este capelo corresponde a una persona del sexo femenino, del resto de su cuerpo no se sabe qué sucedió. De hecho, en la actualidad, el Museo de las Momias de Guanajuato cuenta dentro de su colección con cuatro piezas incompletas.
No temas, son sólo capullos…

Robb Kendrick
Fotógrafo estadounidense reconocido internacionalmente, con más de veintidós años de trayectoria, y cuyo trabajo ha sido publicado en revistas de renombre mundial como National Geographic y Life. Su trabajo, apreciado por coleccionistas, ha sido compilado en tres libros llamados: Revealing Character, Still: Cowboys at the start of the 21st Century y Changelings, siendo este último el que fundamenta las imágenes de las Momias de Guanajuato. Kendrick ha recibido innumerables elogios por el arte de sus fotografías realizadas a través de la técnica de placas de metal llamada también tintype, método fotográfico que creo Hamilton L. Smith en 1856, y por el cual Robb se considera el máximo exponente en la actualidad. Estas fotografías son únicas en su género, ya que todas y cada una de ellas se realizan a mano de principio a fin.
El 9 de agosto de 2006, Robb Kendrick y su equipo de trabajo realizaron la sesión fotográfica en la que retrataron cincuenta momias del interior del Museo de las Momias en la ciudad de Guanajuato. Las sesiones de trabajo se llevaron a cabo después de las seis de la tarde, y finalizaron poco antes de las nueve de la mañana del día siguiente. Fueron tres días de ardua labor, pero el resultado valió el esfuerzo.
Las cinco placas que podemos observar en este espacio son una obra de arte por su complejidad y belleza, pero sobre todo porque en cada una de ellas el artista captó, para luego transmitir, la magia de las tradiciones y costumbres que hacen de México, en su conjunto, un patrimonio cultural de toda la humanidad.

FEMALE HEAD
A result of looting the catacombs of the Graveyard of Santa Paula during the first clandestine visits more than one hundred years ago. The head exhibited within this showcase belonged to a woman. What happened to the rest of the body is unknown. In fact, at the present the Museum of the Mummies of Guanajuato has four incomplete mummies in its collection.

ROBB KENDRICK
American photographer internationally recognized by his career of more than 22 years of experience. His work has been published in world-wide famous magazines such as National Geographic and Life. His work, prized by collectors, has been compiled into three books: Revealing Character, Still: Cowboys at the start of the 21st century, and Changelings. It is in Changelings where we can find pictures of the Mummies of Guanajuato. Kendrick has received innumerable honors for the art found in his photograph created through the technique of metal plates also know as tintype, a photographic method created in 1856 by Hamilton L. Smith, of which Robb is considered the maximum exponent at the present. These photographs are each one of a kind as they are all handmade from the beginning to the end.
On August, 9th, 2006, Robb Kendrick and his team conducted a photo shoot which portrayed fifty mummies that were inside the Museum of the Mummies in the city of Guanajuato. The work sessions were held after 6:00 p.m. and ended shortly before 9:00 a.m. the next morning. They were three days of hard work but the result was worth the effort.
The five plaques that can be seen in this showcase are a work of art because of their complexity and beauty, but above all because each of them was captured by the artist transmitting the magic of the traditions and customs of Mexico that make it a cultural patrimony of all the humanity.
