2008: Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation (with a merit in the literature paper)

2007: distance learning course with City University London in preparation for the Institute of Linguists Diploma in Translation examination.

1993: Master of Arts with First Class Honours from Aberdeen University, Scotland

I have been working as a freelance translator since 2008. I specialise in those areas in particular where my strengths and my interests lie - in literaure, advertising, tourism, gastronomy, - i.e. the creative side of translation. Clients have recently sent me very rewarding feedback using the words "herrlich" and "fantastisch" to describe my translations.

I have undertaken translation in other areas too - medicine, transport, science, sport - and my research into the subject matter in hand is always very thorough indeed.

I have been living in the Austrian Tyrol since 1993. I worked in the logistics industry before deciding to pursue a career in translation. I also teach English to both adults and children in the local community college here.
