Well, better say "About us": we are a team, two of us both in life and work since 26 years.

Cinthia, GCSE in Foreign Languages (English and French and Arabic, this last long since forgotten); now studying Spanish.
One year living in the U.S. and one year in Spain, plus several trips around Europe.
(She's an accurate and careful researcher, and a very hard worker. In our actual job she mainly looks after editing, reviewing and proofing, from English into Italian. Very often she shares the total workload).

Arrigo, GCSE in Classical Matters. I studied French as a kid, then English plus, of course, Latin and Greek. I too now studying Spanish.
Several long stays abroad in USA, UK and other European Countries. Moreover, one year on an English course provided by the Company then hiring me.
(I used do the most part of the translation job and join her in the proofing; now, we both translate and exchange roles on each other's translations).

Work experiences:

currently (since 2005) freelance translators EN->IT->EN (don't be misled, it's now since 30 years that we earn our living thanks also to our knowledge of English).

1996->2005 - both managing our commercial firm. We sold HW, SW and IT Services to several low end customers in Rome area.

1979->1995 - both working with the late Digital Equipment Corporation (at those times world #2 after IBM), where we met in 1984. We both worked in Information Systems, Administration, Sales,

1978->1979 - she working in the Marketing Dept. of Gulf Corp. Italy.

1977->1979 - I working as Chief Buyer with O.M.S.AT. S.p.a., a mechanical company. In these years I had to use also much French.

1976->1979 - she studying. I working as Assistant to the Purchasing Manager of Farfisa Spa (electronic music instruments), owned by Lear Siegler Inc. USA

1975->1976 - I working with Renault Italia in a tech/commercial role.

Our translations:

Some of our first translations were about "terminal ballistics" and even something worse. Then we started with the translation of "War is a racket", posted here.

The last three years have been “very good years”; here follows a partial list of customers and matters:

- Automotive: over 1,000,000 words for Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Chrysler, Lexus, FIAT, IVECO, Piaggio; technical manuals, marketing documents, commercial ads, training courses.

- Electronics: nearly 1.000,000 words of documentation, manuals and website of electronic DJ equipment, stage lighting and relevant accessories for American Audio, American DJ and Elation. In addition, manuals for GPS, Car Audio and Entertainment systems.

- Mechanical industry: about 500,000 words of manuals for several customers and different kinds of machinery, from Lucchini sawing mills to boring, turning, facing, drilling, tapping machinery and related activities, to Hyunday Kia Machine machining centers; the operation manual for a drug tableting machine; two manuals for food processing machines; adverts for Metalock UK (repairs on heavy cats iron/steel industirla machinery).

- Computer HW&SW, IT: over 150,000 words of manuals and training courses, plus software localization, plus flight simulator manual.

- Networking: nearly 200,000 words of technical documentation for jacks, connectors, patch cables and related equipment for Excel Networking.

- Naval: 80,000 words of maintenance and operation manual for a LRR attack/defense radar.

- Boatbuilding: 75,000 words, two owner's manuals for two large poweryachts.

- Aviation: nearly 40,000 words of technical documentation for de-icing operations, load control, dangerous goods.

- Leisure: over 120,000 words of leisure equipment manuals and a Pilates gym course.

- Other minor miscellanea: 200 articles, more or less, for on-line magazines, about politics, military, history, literature, finance.

Perhaps our funniest experience was subtitling a movie from Neapolitan to English (sic!).

In addition, we have been selected and certified as EN->IT->EN translators by a major Italian outsourcer, currently hiring us very often.

Our tools: complete and redundant HW, plenty of SW, XP-Pro + Office 2003. We definitely improved our skills with SDLX and Trados 2007 and, more recently, we installed and used IBM Translation Manager and Across. Some months ago the technical Marolli joined our already vast library.

We can afford to be very fast, yet maintaining a high quality level and, last but not least, we are not scared by working overtime when schedules are to be be met. In effect, last year we left twice for one month study holidays in Spain: both times we had to carry our laptops with us because our customers needed us to carry on with their assignments.

They know we never leave a customer stranded, Saturdays and Sundays don't exist for us if a customer is in need: we were grown at a "Think Customer" school…, and it paid. Try us, you won't regret it!
