The control of the digital signatures of all delivered parcels is done to discover differences, implausibilities and irregularities. Als de handtekening voor een pakket alleen op papier bestaat moet deze gedigitaliseerd worden. Papieren handtekeningen mogen alleen gedigitaliseerd worden als er een duidelijke verwijzing naar het pakketnummer is.
Papieren handtekeningen mogen alleen gedigitaliseerd worden als de originele handtekening op het originele papiere manifest staat, op een hand gemaakt manifest of op het formulier voor handtekening traceringen.
Alle papieren manifesten of afleveringslijsten waarop de ontvanger voor ontvangst van de pakketten getekend heeft moeten opgeslagen en aan de lijst "bezorging scans" toegevoegd worden, ongeacht of de ontvanger ook in het beeldscherm getekend heeft of dat de handtekening gedigidaliseerd is. Iedere propere bezorging moet gedocumenteerd worden middels de handtekening van de ontvanger in het systeem.
Foutieve, ongeloofwaardige, missende of gemanipuleerde handtekeningen moeten geconstateerd worden door het depot personeel door regelmatige handtekening controles. Als geen correcte handtekeningen gegeven zijn of er handtekeningen missen moeten de betrokken pakketten gescand worden met de fout-code 97 "verzonnen handtekening". Deze controles behoren op de dag van de bezorging of op zijn laatst de volgende werkdag uitgevoerd te worden.
Als de pakket historie van een pakket met een ongeloofwaardige handtekening zegt dat het een oud pakketlabel of een outbound pakket was dat per ongeluk gescand was, moet het pakket geboekt worden met fout-code 37 (verkeerd pakket nummer).

Het bericht van Johanna:
Ik ben Johanna en ik woon in München. Claudia vroeg me mijn avonturen en indrukken van de situatie omtrent de straatdieren in Venezuela op te schrijven. Ik kan het moeilijk onder woorden brengen omdat de ervaringen nieuw voor me waren en ik ze behoorlijk pijnlijk vond. Het was heel moeilijk geconfronteerd te worden met de dramatische situatie waarin deze arme dieren moeten leven.
Mijn eerste ervaring met strandhonden was bij ons hotel op Isla de Coche en dat is dan ook waar mijn, en trouwens ook Katja's (een andere toeriste) verhaal begint.
De eerste morgen na aankomst ontmoetten mijn vriend en ik 4 fantastische honden tijdens onze ochtendwandeling op het strand. Het waren dezelfde honden als waarover Katja schrijft. Ik heb ze direkt in mijn hart gesloten. Ik ben al sinds ik een kind was helemaal gek van dieren. Ieder dier in nood dat ik tegen kwam hielp ik.
Vanaf de eerste dag heb ik een vertrouwensrelatie met deze honden opgebouwd. We gaven hen namen en gaven ze alles wat we mee konden nemen uit het restaurant te eten.
We hebben in totaal 15 dagen in het hotel doorgebracht. Na een dag of 4 kwam Claudia, die ik op dat moment nog niet kende, om één van de honden, het mannetje, af te halen. Het lukte haar met de hulp van een stelletje dat daar ook op vakantie was het dier te vangen, zodat hij een kans had op een ander, beter leven. Het probleem in dit geval was dat de hotelleiding de honden als een proleem zien. Er kunnen namelijk gasten zijn die zich aan hen storen en het hotel is bereid alles te doen wat nodig is om dat te voorkomen. Het is in Venezuela helaas niet ongebruikelijk om vergiftigingsakties te houden om het “probleem” op te lossen.
De andere 3 honden (allemaal wijfjes) dachten er evenwel anders over en lieten zich niet vangen. Zij waren erg schuchter voor vreemden en lieten dan ook niemand in de buurt komen. Vanaf deze dag trokken de 3 overgebleven honden meer en meer naar ons en waren dan ook van 's ochtends vroeg tot 's avonds laat bij ons in de buurt te vinden. Ze sliepen zelfs bij ons voor het appartement. Ondanks alle pogingen van het personeel de honden bij het hotel te verjagen en weg te houden waren ze altijd weer bij ons te vinden. Twee van hen lieten zich evenwel niet aanraken of aaien in het begin maar ik kon toch in relatief korte tijd een vertrouwensrelatie met ze opbouwen. Tijdens de tweede week van onze vakantie waren ze al makkelijker te aaien en waren ze ook zichtbaar dankbaar voor de liefde en de aandacht. Dit was ook de week dat ik Claudia leerde kennen toen ze voor de tweede keer naar het eiland kwam om onze andere 3 engeltjes te halen. (Lees hierover meer bij “islastreetanimals”) Samen lukte het ons ze alle drie in een grote transportbox te krijgen zodat ze naar Isla Margarita overgebracht konden worden. Daar zouden ze door de dierenarts met wie Claudia nauw samenwerkt onderzocht worden, behandeld en later ook gesteriliseerd. Ik was weliswaar een beetje teleurgesteld dat ze weggingen maar aan de andere kant was ik ook erg opgelucht want ik was al bang voor de dag dat we terug zouden gaan en de arme beestjes achter moesten laten.
Claudia en ik bleven in contact nadat ik weer thuis was maar zelfs daar kon ik de hele ervaring niet van me afzetten zodat ik besloot weer naar Venezuela terug te vliegen om Claudia tijdelijk met haar dagelijkse bezigheden met de dieren te helpen en om dichter bij de engeltjes te zijn die ik ondertussen zo in mijn hart had gesloten.
Dus een dag of 12 later zat ik weer ik het vliegtuig op weg naar Porlamar waar Claudia en haar lieve gezinnetje me ophaalden. In de 2 weken die volgden heb ik dingen ervaren die de arme dieren daar moeten doorstaan die onwaardig zijn voor ieder levend wezen. Zover ik heb kunnen zien zijn Venezolanen hele vriendelijke en behulpzame mensen maar hun mentaliteit wat betreft dieren is op een enkele uitzondering na verschrikkelijk. Voor hen is het leven van een dier nagenoeg iets waard vandaar dat erbarmelijke omstandigheden onder welke de dieren moeten leven.
Een groot probleem is dat de zwerfhonden en -katten zich zo snel voortplanten dat het ervoor zorgt dat ziekten zich heel snel en gemakkelijk onder hen verspreiden waaraan ze lijden tot ze een pijnlijke dood sterven. Godzijdank zijn er mensen zoals Claudia en haar man op deze wereld die aktief vechten tegen deze ongerechtigheid en daarmee de levens van zoveel dieren redden.
Het slechte nieuws is dat deze situatie uitzichtloos is omdat veel mensen liever weg kijken dan iets aan de situatie te doen. Gedurende de tijd die ik op het eiland verbracht heb zijn we naar heel wat verschillende stranden gereden waar we de honden en katten te eten en drinken gaven en de dieren waar nodig verzorgden. Noodgevallen werden naar de dierenarts gebracht om behandeld te worden. Als je dit alles optelt kom je tot de conclusie dat het allemaal erg veel geld kost om voor deze dieren te zorgen. De nood onder de straat- en stranddieren is enorm hoog en het aantal is haast niet te bevatten. Daarom is het zo belangrijk dat er mensen zijn die willen helpen. Dat kan natuurlijk ook op allerlei manieren gebeuren vanuit andere landen. Voor het werk op Isla Margarita is dringend financiële hulp nodig want zonder geld kan helaas maar weinig bereikt worden. Of het nou is om voedsel te kopen, medische behandelingen te betalen, medicijnen te kopen of dieren te castreren en steriliseren, hjet kost allemaal een hoop geld.
Wat is daar heb gezien en meegemaakt zal me de rest van mijn leven bijblijven simpelweg door de triestheid die de herinneringen teweeg brengen.
Maar toch is het waard te blijven vechten! De noodlijdende dieren hebben ons nodig, ons allemaal! Samen kunnen we het verschil maken. Sta alsjeblieft allemaal Claudia bij in deze strijd, in onze strijd en help haar aan de financële middelen die nodig zijn om het leven en het lijden van deze hulpeloze dieren te verlichten. Kijkt u alstublieft niet weg, maar kijk.....in uw hart, want ieder gered leven is een geweldig succes op zichzelf!
Van mij maar vooral van de zwerfdieren op Isla Margarita, BEDANKT!!!

Met deze zinnen wordt iedereen bedoeld die zich een dierenvriend noemt. Als werkelijk ieder van hen een steentje bij zou dragen, zouden we samen een hele hoop kunnen doen voor de vergeten dieren van Venezuela die door de straten en over de stranden zwerven. Vergeet niet dat zelfs de kleinste donatie een wereld van verschil kan maken.

Katja's bericht
Ons bericht begint met de volgende 4 honden: Cobain, Lisbeth, Heidi en Gertrude.
Op 4 april 2008 vertrok onze vlucht naar Venezuela voor een vakantie van 2 weken. Ons 8 maanden oude dochtertje bleef bij mijn schoonmoeder voor die tijd en onze katten Hanna en Quatermain werden in een eerste klas katten pension gebracht. Alles was klaar voor een ontspannen vakantie. Mijn man had al een hoop voorpret maar ik kon maar niet ophouden te piekeren of mijn schoonmoeder het allemaal wel aankon met mijn dochter en of de katten het wel goed zouden hebben in het pension. Toen we in Porlamar aankwamen werden we naar het andere eiland, Isla de Coche, gebracht met een zogenaamde speedboot en dat was ook direct de ergste boot vaart die ik in mijn leven meegemaakt heb. Het was ook al half 7 's avonds wat betekent dat het al pikdonker is in Venezuela. Deze avond was bij aankomst in het hotel voor ons dan ook voorbij en we gingen meteen naar bed. De volgende morgen waren we door het tijdverschil al om 6 uur wakker en gingen het hotel bekijken en het strand wat er voor ligt. Het hotel was heel mooi en de mensen hadden zich veel moeite gegeven om alles er zo tropisch mogelijk uit te laten zien, hoewel dat alleen voor het hotel zelf gold. De rest van het eiland zag er bleek en desolaat uit en we vroegen ons af waar de dieren waren. Toen we naar het restaurant gingen om te ontbijten zag een een bord waarop stond dat het verboden was de dieren te voeden wat mij vreemd leek. Ik deed dat toch. Er waren papegaaien en kaketoes, leguanen en katten. Vanaf de eerste dag heb ik ze allemaal zoveel mogelijk gevoerd. De leguanen waren gek op watermeloen, de papegaaien op zonnebloem pitten en de katten aten alles wat hen voorgehouden werd. Wat ik gedurende de eerste 2 dagen miste, echter, waren honden. Ik dacht dat dat misschien was omdat we alleen nog bij het zwembad waren geweest omdat er geen schaduw te vinden is op het strand voor het hotel en het water er bovendien vol kwallen zat. Ik dacht dat ze waarschijnlijk op het strand zouden zijn.
En dat was ook zo. Op een avond genoten mijn man en ik van een heerlijke strandwandeling en zaten daarna op een strandstoel toen mijn “dikkerd” aan kwam lopen en pal voor onze voeten ging liggen. Hij maakte het zich gemakkelijk en draaide zich meteen om om geaaid te worden. Dat was het voor mij en mijn man, de dikkerd, die tegenwoordig door het leven gaat als Cobain, had onze harten gestolen. Van dat moment aan namen we altijd een zak mee als we naar het restaurant gingen om al het eten wat overbleef mee te nemen voor de honden. De eerste dag was het alleen Cobain maar de tweede dag kwamen er 2 bij en na 4 dagen waren het er 4 en zo zou het ook blijven vanaf dat moment. Cobain vertrouwde ons vanaf het begin en de rest van de groep volgde met de tijd zodat we ook hen af en toe konden aaien. Natuurlijk wasten we het eten af voor we het de honden gaven zodat ze geen kruiden en dergelijke binnen zouden krijgen en brachten we altijd water mee om hun dorst te lessen. Iedere dag merkten we dat de honden ons een beetje meer vertrouwden. Eigenlijk waren we de hele dag bezig om eten voor de honden bij elkaar te krijgen en op een dag toen we een uitstapje naar Porlamar op Isla Margarita hadden geregeld zijn we naar een supermarkt gegaan om worstjes voor de honden te kopen. We hebben er altijd voor gezorgd dat de honden ons niet naar onze kamer volgden maar, ja, wat kan ik zeggen? De dag dat we ze de worstjes gaven zijn we blijkbaar een stapje te ver gegaan. Plotseling stonden alle 4 de honden voor de deur en iedere poging hen daar weg te krijgen was nutteloos. De één na laatste nacht van onze vakantie sliepen ze allemaal voor onze kamer en ik kreeg het een beetje benauwd omdat ik wist dat het hotel daar absoluut niet mee eens was. Dat gevoel werd nog sterker toen ons in de receptie werd meegedeeld dat het voederen van de strand dieren ten strengste verboden was. Natuurlijk namen mijn man en ik ze direct weg en brachten ze terug naar het strand.
Diep van binnen was ik rusteloos omdat ik bang was dat het niet goed af zou lopen met de honden en het had natuurlijk verschrikkelijk geweest ls we onze koffers hadden moeten pakken en met die gedachte naar huis hadden moeten vliegen. Natuurlijk kon ik niet wachten weer bij mijn dochtertje en mijn 2 katten te zijn maar ik stond in dubio want ik wist dat de honden daar geen goed vooruitzicht hadden, wat iedereen ook zei. De hele terugreis heb ik gehuild en gemekkerd en zodra we thuis kwamen ben ik achter de computer gaan zitten en heb naar oplossingen gegoogeld. Zo heb ik Claudia gevonden. Ik heb haar per e-mail het verhaal van Cobain verteld en ze heeft me geholpen Cobain te redden door hem daar weg te halen en mee te nemen naar Isla Margarita en hem in haar huis op te namen. Volgende week zal ze proberen om de andere 3 honden te redden en tot die tijd zal ik mezelf de hele tijd voorhouden dat alles in orde komt. Claudia heeft Cobain gered de eerste keer dat ze naar Coche gegaan is en nu weet ze hoe de omstandigheden zijn en kan dus beter inspelen op wat ze moet doen om de andere 3 daar weg te halen. We weten dat ze daar nog zijn en dat er andere toeristen zijn die ze te eten geven. Ik hoop er het beste van.
Toen ik contact had gehad met Claudia wist ik dat ik mijn persoonlijke engel had gevonden en ik wist dat als er iemand is die die lieve hondjes kan redden is zij het. Ik heb alleen met het financiële gedeelte geholpen maar zij heeft al het werk gedaan. Ze is een echte “miracle worker” met de steun van haar gezin.
Misschien vraagt u zich af of ik ze nog wel allemaal op een rijtje heb maar ik ben altijd al helemaal dierengek geweest en heb zo lang ik me kan herinneren alle dieren op vakantie te eten gegeven en was altijd triest als we weer naar huis gingen. Dit keer was echter anders omdat 4 honden mijn hart gestolen hadden. God weet dat ik in mijn leven al genoeg mee gemaakt heb die ik geen andere vrouw toewens en het waren altijd dieren, of dat nou honden, katten of konijnen waren, die me met hun onconditionele liefde getroost hebben. Het zijn hulpeloze levende wezens en ik kan eenvoudigweg niet weg kijken en tegen mezelf zeggen dat het niet mijn probleem is of dat het nou eenmaal zo gaat in die zuidelijke landen. Ik moet wat doen anders kan ik mezelf niet meer aankijken in de spiegel. Wat er ook gebeurt in mijn leven ik wil het idee hebben iets goeds in mijn leven gedaan te hebben en het leven van enige levende wezens zo mooi als mogelijk gemaakt te hebben voordat alles voorbij is.
Ieder dier op deze aarde verdient het om het zo goed mogelijk te hebben, tenslotte kunnen zij zich niet verweren tegen onrecht en menselijke wreedheden. Natuurlijk zijn mensen me ook heel dierbaar, vooral kinderen en ik zal ook alles in mijn macht doen om ervoor te zorgen dat zij het goed hebben.
Voor nu hoop ik dat het snel het einde van de week is zodat ik het goede nieuws krijg dat Heidi, Gertrude en Lisbeth ook gered zijn en dat ook zij een kans op een mooi, nieuw leven krijgen.
Ik ben Claudia, haar gezin en de vrienden die geholpen hebben heel erg dankbaar dat ze Cobain gered hebben. Ik kan mijn dank niet in woorden uitdrukken omdat er geen woorden zijn die de diepe gevoelens van dankbaarheid beschrijven. Ik kan alleen maar hopen dat zij weten wat ze voor mij en mijn familie hebben betekent en dat ze voor altijd een plek in onze harten zullen hebben.

Ik ben er eindelijk toe gekomen het tweede gedeelte van mijn bericht te schrijven.
Nadat alle 4 de honden gered waren en in goede handen ontving ik het fantastische nieuws van Claudia dat ze Cobain zelf wilde houden. Dat vond ik zo mooi dat ik eerst eens moest huilen van blijdschap. Helaas kon Cobain het niet goed vinden met het 2 jarige zoontje van Claudia en was jaloers op kleine kinderen. Wie weet wat deze geweldige hond al mee gemaakt heeft in zijn leven en wat hem door kinderen is aangedaan? Daar wil ik liever niet aan denken. Als hij slechte ervaringen heeft met kinderen is die angst moeilijk kwijt te raken. Waarschijnlijk heeft hij zich voor de eerste keer in zijn leven thuis gevoeld en het idee gehad dat er iemand was die echt om hem gaf wat natuurlijk een fantastisch gevoel voor hem geweest moest zijn maar tegelijkertijd ook zijn instinct dat te beschermen naar boven bracht.
Nu heeft hij gelukkig een ander, lief gezin gevonden en de andere 3 honden zien er ook heel goed en gezond uit. Ik weet zeker dat dat zij ook snel goed terecht komen. Van een andere hond dat ook op dat strand woonde heeft Claudia ook de puppies gered en dat was, opnieuw, een geweldige prestatie van Claudia die echt meer dan genoeg werk en problemen heeft maar ze flikt het toch op de één of andere manier iedere keer weer!
Als de puppies nu ook nog bij een lieve familie ondergebracht kunnen worden (ik ben niet helemaal up to date dus misschien is dit ondertussen al het geval) dan hebben we deze levens ook nog gered!
Als je eenmaal geïnteresseerd raakt in het dierenleed wereldwijd zul je geschokt zijn over wat er allemaal gebeurd. Je moet natuurlijk niet je ogen sluiten voor het feit dat er genoeg mensen zijn die hun sadistische trekken en gedrag botvieren op de onschuldigen in deze wereld, of dat nu kinderen, vrouwen of dieren zijn. Ik weet dat het makkelijker is de andere kant op te kijken en ik kan alleen maar vragen dat een ieder die dit leest de ogen niet sluit want dat alleen kan al een hele impuls zijn om dingen te veranderen. Ik zal mijn ogen in ieder geval openhouden en alles doen wat in mijn macht ligt om Claudia te helpen.
Wat op vakantie gebeurd is heeft me aan het denken gezet over dit alles en omdat het te riskant was Cobain over te vliegen naar ons hebben we nu een hond uit Spanje gehaald. Hij is 6 jaar oud en heeft het grootste gedeelte van zijn leven in het dierenasiel doorgebracht. Hij is echt heel erg lief en ondanks dat hij het in het begin niet goed met mijn katten kon vinden zijn ze nu beste vrienden. Ook met mijn dochter gaat het heel erg goed. ik hou er natuurlijk wel altijd een oogje op en laat ze niet alleen. Maar ik weet zeker dat alles goed komt. Ik ben er namelijk van overtuigd dat met een beetje begrip, tolerantie en liefde de wereld er heel anders uit zou zien.
Zo, nu kom ik dan toch echt aan het einde van mijn verhaal. Ik hoop met heel mijn hart dat Cobain een lang en gelukkig leven zal hebben met zijn familie. Ook wens ik Claudia heel veel kracht en moed zodat ze door kan gaan deze wonderen te verrichten zoals ze dat nu al een hele tijd doet.

ohanna's story:
I'm Johanna and I live in Munich. Claudia asked me to write down my adventures and impressions with the situation of the stray animals in Venezuela. It's difficult for me to put that into words as it was my first such an experience and a painful one as well. It was very hard to be confronted with the dramatic situation in which these unwanted ones have to live.
My first encounter with beach dogs was at our hotel on Coche Island and this is really where my story, as well as Katja's, another tourist, start.
On the first morning after arriving my boyfriend and I got to meet 4 great dogs during our morning walk on the beach. They were the same ones that Katja writes about. I immediately closed them in my heart; I've been completely crazy about animals ever since I was a little girl. I have always helped every animal in need that came across my path. From the first day on I built up a trustful relation with these dogs. We gave them names and fed them with everything we could manage to get out of the restaurant that was suitable for dogs.
We spent a total of 15 days in Hotel Coche Paradise. After about 4 days Claudia, whom I hadn't met by then, managed to catch the male dog with the help of a couple that was there on holiday too, to give him a change at a new, safe life. The problem in this case was that the hotel management the dogs see as a problem. There might guests that are bothered by the presence of stray dogs and the hotel would do anything to prevent that. It is very common for hotels to start poisoning actions to get rid of the “problem”. Mind you, I'm not saying that would have been the case with this hotel, but there's always that chance.
The other 3 dos (all female) were of another opinion though, and wouldn't let themselves be caught. They were a lot shyer with strangers as the one that would become known as “Cobain”. From this day on the other 3 dogs focussed more and more on us and accompanied us from early morning till late at night. They even slept in front of our apartment. Despite the efforts of the hotel personnel to chase them away, they could always be found where we were. Two of them wouldn't let you stroke or touch them in the beginning but I managed to built up a relationship with them in a relatively short time. In the second week of our holiday they were easier and easier to stroke and were visibly grateful. This was also the week that I met Claudia who had come to Coche for a second time to pick up “our angels” (read about this under “islastreetanimals”). Together we succeeded to get all three of them in a transport box so they could be taken to Margarita. There they would go to the veterinary with which Claudia works together for examination, treatment and later also sterilization. Maybe a bit disappointed but I was also relieved because I was fearing the day I had to back and leave the poor ones behind
Claudia and I kept in contact and even after my return to Germany I couldn't let go this experience and I decided to fly to Venezuela again so I could help Claudia with her daily work and to be close to the ones and I had taken into my heart.
So about 12 days later I was back in the plane on my way Porlamar where Claudia and her sweet little family picked me up. Over the next two weeks I had to experience things that the animals there go through that are just unworthy of a living being. As far as have noticed Venezuelans are very kind, friendly people, but their mentality concerning animals is, besides a few exceptions, simply terrible. For them the life of an animal doesn't have much value, therefor the circumstances under which the animals have to live are unworthy of any living being. A big problem is that stray cats and dogs reproduce so fast that it causes diseases to be spread among them from which they suffer until they die a painful death. Thank God for people like Claudia and her husband who actively and on the spot fight this injustice and save the lives if so many animals.
The bad news is that an end to this terrible situation is no where in sight, as most people are ignorant in this matter and just look away, instead of trying to do something about it. During the time I spent on the island we drove to several beaches and took care of the dogs and cats with water and food. Emergencies were taken to the vet for medical attention. All summed up this is of course, very expensive because the need among stray animals is enormous and the sheer amount of them is mind shattering. That's why it is so important that there are people that are willing to help. That can also be done from other countries. For the job on Margarita Island is urgently financial aid needed because without money there's not much one can do. Whether it is to buy food, pay for medical attention and medicine but also castrations and sterilizations, What I have seen there will stay with me for the rest of my life simply because of the sadness and desperation they bring.
But still it is worth the fight! The animals need us, all of us! Together we can make a difference. Please support Claudia in this fight, in our fight and help her get the financial meets that are needed to enlighten the misery of these poor animals. Please do not look away, but look.........look into your heart, because every life saved is a huge success.

Katja's story
Our story begins with the following 4 dogs: Cobain, Lisbeth, Heidi and Gertrude.
On April 4th 2008 our flight left for Venezuela for a two-week holiday. Our 8 month old daughter stayed with my mother-in-law for the time being and our cats Hanna and Quatermain were brought to a first class cat pension. Everything was ready for a relaxing time. My husband was full of happy anticipation but I couldn't stop wondering if my mother-in-law could handle everything with my daughter and if the cats would have it good at the pension. When we arrived in Porlamar we were taken to Coche Island by a so called speedboat and that was directly the worst boat ride of my life, especially because it was around 6.30 in the afternoon which over there means it's pitch black with darkness. So this evening was more or over for us and we went straight to bed. The next morning we were up at 6 o'clock due to the time difference of 6 and a half hours and we checked out the hotel and the beach in front of it. The hotel was very beautiful and the people there made a great effort to make the complex look as tropical as possible, although just the complex. The rest of the island is so desolate and meager that we wondered where all the animal were. When we went to the restaurant for breakfast I saw a sign saying it was forbidden to feed the animals which I thought was strange. I did it anyway. There were parrots and cockatoos, iguanas and cats. All of these I fed as much as possible from the first day on. The iguanas loved watermelon, the parrots sunflower seeds and the cats would eat anything that was given to them. What I missed the first two days, though, were dogs. I thought that because we had only be in the pool area, there was no shade whatsoever on the beach and the water was full of jellyfish, that we would find them on the beach.
And we did. One evening my husband and I had enjoyed a nice stroll on the beach and sat down on on of the sun beds afterwards when my “fatty” (Cobain) walked up to us and made himself comfortable right for our feet. He turned himself right away ready to be stroked and receive some nice, human attention. That was it for me and my husband, the fatty that is now known as Cobain had stolen our hearts. From that moment on we always had a bag with us when we went to the restaurant to take left-over food with us so we could feed the dogs. The first day it was just Cobain but the second day two others joined him and after 4 days the group consisted of 4 dogs that's how it would be from then on. Cobain trusted from the beginning on and the rest of them followed over time so one could stroke them once i a while. Of course we always washed the food so the dogs wouldn't have to eat all the spices they were made with and we always brought water so they could have a drink when they wanted to. Every day we could notice more trust in the dogs. Basically I just spent my days trying to get food for the dogs and one day when we had arranged a trip to Porlamar we went to a supermarket so we could buy some sausages for the dogs. We always made sure the dogs didn't follow us to our room, but what can I say? That day when we had given them the sausages we apparently went too far. All 4 of them suddenly appeared on our doorstep and every effort to get them away just resulted in them showing up there again. The night before the last night of our vacation they all slept in front of our room. That's when I actually realized what this could mean. More so when I went by the reception and asked and they told me that the animals were never fed by the hotel and should not be, under any circumstances, by the guests. Of course my husband and I took them awat from there immediately.
Deep inside myself I was restless because I was afraid this might not end well with the dogs, and it would have been terrible if we had had to pack our suitcases and fly back with that thought in my head. Of course I was anxious to get back to my daughter and my 2 cats, but I was torn apart because I knew the dogs did not have a good perspective there, whatever anyone would say. The entire flight back I was crying and moaning and as soon as we got home I sat down behind my computer and googled for solutions. That's how I found Claudia. I told her my story in an e-mail and she helped me to save Cobain by taking him to Margarita Island and take him in her home. Next week she will try to save the other 3 dogs and till then I will constantly tell myself that everything will be all right. Claudia saved Cobain on the first trip and now she knows the situation she will run into so she can better anticipate what she has to do to get the other 3. We know they are still there and that they are now being fed by other tourists. I'm just hoping for the best.
When I contacted Claudia I knew I had found my personal angel and I knew that if there's anyone who can save those sweet dogs it is her. I just helped with the financing but she did the job over there. She is a true miracle worker and that with the support of her family. Her husband and her son are there for her she needs them and that is what really counts.
Well, you could wonder if I still have it all together. I have always loved animals and as far as I can think back I have always fed all the animals on our holidays and I was always sad when we had to go back home. But this time it was and is different because 4 dogs stole my heart. God knows I've been through a lot in my life and things have happened to me I wouldn't wish to any woman and it was always the animals, whether it were cats, rabbits or dogs that comforted me with their unconditional love. They are helpless living beings and I cannot just look away and tell myself that it's not my problem and that this is just the way is works in those countries. I have to act and do something otherwise I just can't look at myself in the mirror. Whatever happens in my life I want to have the idea of having done something good in my life and having made the life of a living being as nice as possible before it's all over.
Every animal on this earth deserves to have it as good as possible, after all, they can't defend themselves against human cruelty. People also mean a lot to me of course, especially children, and I will always do everything within my power to make sure they're having it well.
Now I am just hoping that it will soon be the end of the week and I can get the good news that Heidi, Gertrude and Lisbeth have been been saved as well and that they too have a chance for a beautiful life.
I am very grateful to Claudia and her family and the friends that have helped for saving Cobain. I can't express this gratefulness in words because there are no words that describe the deep feeling of thankfulness I am feeling inside. I can only hope that they know what they did for me and my family and that they will have a place in our hearts forever.

I have finally managed to write the second part of my story.
After all 4 dogs were rescued and under good care, I received the great news from Claudia that she wanted to keep the dog. That was so beautiful that I had to cry of happiness. Unfortunately Cobain did not get along well with her 2 year old son and was jealous of little children. Who knows what this wonderful dog has already been through in his life and what was done to him by children. I don't really want to think about that.
When he's had a bad experience with children it's difficult to take that fear away. The fact that he probably had the feeling of belonging somewhere and to someone must have been fantastic for him but will most likely also have brought up a strong instinct of protectiveness.
But now he has found a nice foster family (of foreigners) and the other 3 dogs look wonderful. I'm sure they will be taken in soon as well. From another dog that lived on that same beach in Coche Claudia also saved the puppies and that was, again, a great achievement of Claudia who really has more than enough work and trouble, but she did it again.
Now the puppies also have to be located to a nice family (I'm not up to date if that has already happened) and then we'll have saved these lives as well!
When one begins to take interest in the suffering of animals all over the world, one will be shocked to discover what is happening out there.
Of course one should never neglect or close your eyes for the fact that there are enough people that unleash their sadistic behavior on the innocent, whether they are children, women or animals. I know that sometimes it's just easier to close your eyes I can only appeal to anyone who reads this to look with open eyes because that alone can already be an impulse to changes. In any case I will continue to keep my eyes open and I will do everything in my power to help Claudia.
Everything that has happened to me on holiday has made me think about all this and because it was too risky for Cobain to fly him over to us, we have now a dog from Spain. He is 6 years old and spent most of his life in an animal shelter. He is a really very sweet dog and even though in the beginning he didn't get along with our cats, now they are the best of friends and with my daughter he also gets along wonderfully. Of course I always keep my eyes open and never let the 2 of them alone. Once he also growled at her but my husband reacted very swiftly and made him see who's the leader of the pack in my house and since then he's only been more than nice and he's now even standing up for her. One can never know what goes on inside the head of a person or an animal. Who knows what they have been through in live. I only know that with a little understanding, tolerance and love this world would be a whole different place to live in.
So, and now I finally get to the end of my and our story. I wish with all my heart that Cobain will have a long and happy life with this family. I also wish for a lot of strength and courage every day for Claudia, to keep working these miracles she's been performing for sometime now.
