Nemiscat ci doar sfirtecat launtric,
Singura replica pe care-o spunea era aceasta:
-De ce ficatul?
Desigur cea mai simpla
Si cea mai banala replica, in aparenta:
-De ce ficatul?
Avea in cap o intreaga piesa
Despre valoarea focului
In stinga lui infometat, vulturul e foarte dirz
| Translation - English OK, so this in not a translation in the fullest sense but more of a retelling. This is because I believe that to translate poetry means going so deep into the meaning of the text that the actual words vanish, and one is left with only the core, which is then ready to take shape again under the auspices of another language and culture.
Standing chained to granite rock-face old Prometheus's unbound
For his thoughts run up to Zeus, shouting his defiance loud.
As he tries to voice his spirit, noble act for savage man,
All his body shakes and shivers "Why my liver is undone?"
Thoughts of riot and denial, self fulfillment in the deed,
Only words don't come as promised "Why my liver does so bleed?"
To his left the eagle's working, ripping flesh from godlike corpse,
Thorough in his task as given, onomatopoeic goes:

As such, I have experience in fields such as metallurgy, automation, mechanics, but also legal documents, especially contracts and tender inquiries. I also spent three months in Poland as an interpreter to a team that was there for training in coke plants.
And this is just my pragmatic side as I am a passionate reader of literature, so one could say that I know my Fielding from my Fowles, and as a matter of fact this is the reason I became a translator (only had I known). |
