As a staff translator with 27 years' experience, I have had to tackle most subject areas but am particularly experienced in goverment (have translated high level documents: memoranda of understanding, treaties, NBC declarations to UN etc.), historical documents, defence, military, politics, medical, economics and law. As horse riding has been my hobby for over 30 years (I own and show a purebred Arab horse), I am well acquainted with equestrian terminology and also undertake equestrian translations eg. riding manuals, import papers, etc.. I'm also interested in cooking and have translated cookery books.
Amongst the freelance work completed in 2005 are:
German to English: 4 books (2 x cookery, Chinese medicine, travel guide) - all for the same publisher, competition brief and subsequent correspondence for a major international architectural competition, medical reports for Gulf War Syndrome claims, museum pamphlets containing much historical and archaelogical detail, conference speech ref. the paper industry, information pamphlet for a national stud and job references.
Arabic to English: insurance contract, legal papers concerning purchase of property in Egypt, birth certificates, letters (business and private), magazine and newspaper articles, educational certificates
