AMBIENTE: Contesto nel quale un’organizzazione opera, comprendente l’aria, l’acqua, il terreno, le risorse naturali, la flora, la fauna, gli esseri umani e le loro interrelazioni.
ASPETTO AMBIENTALE: Elemento delle attività o dei prodotti e dei servizi di un’organizzazione che può interagire con l’ambiente.
IMPATTO AMBIENTALE: Qualunque modificazione dell’ambiente, negativa o benefica, causata totalmente o parzialmente dagli aspetti ambientali.
SISTEMA DI GESTIONE AMBIENTALE (SGA): Parte del sistema di gestione di un’organizzazione utilizzata per sviluppare ed attuare la propria politica ambientale e gestire i propri aspetti ambientali.
OBIETTIVO AMBIENTALE: Fine ambientale complessivo, coerente con la politica ambientale che un’organizzazione decide di perseguire.
POLITICA AMBIENTALE: Intenzioni e direttive complessive di un’organizzazione relative alla propria prestazione ambientale come espresso formalmente dall’alta direzione.
TRAGUARDO AMBIENTALE: Requisito di prestazione dettagliato, applicabile all’intera organizzazione o ad una sua parte, derivante dagli obiettivi ambientali e che bisogna fissare e realizzare al fine di raggiungere tali obiettivi.
PARTE INTERESSATA: Persona o gruppo coinvolto o influenzato dalla prestazione ambientale di un’organizzazione.
REGISTRAZIONE: documento che riporta i risultati ottenuti o fornisce evidenza delle attività svolte.
ELABORAZIONE: attività di preparazione e stesura del documento.
VERIFICA: controllo della rispondenza del documento ai dati d’ingresso ed ai requisiti tecnici, contrattuali, di sistema.
APPROVAZIONE: valutazione dell’adeguatezza del documento in esame prima della sua emissione e applicazione.
RINTRACCIABILITA’: capacità di risalire alla storia, all’utilizzazione o all’ubicazione di ciò che si sta considerando.
NORMATIVA: insieme dei provvedimenti legislativi che interessano i processi e le attività costituito da direttive, regolari, leggi, decreti, circolari, comunicazioni, deliberazioni, ordinanze, ecc di livello europeo, nazionale, regionale, provinciale, comunale, settoriale. Sono compresi anche speciali provvedimenti derivanti da accordi con Enti e/o Autorità.
PROVVEDIMENTO: singolo documento prescrittivi in materia di ambiente che interessa i processi e le attività dell’Azienda.
FORMAZIONE: processo aziendale strettamente collegato allo sviluppo delle risorse umane e costituito da un insieme di attività (corsi interni ed esterni all’azienda, percorsi, affiancamenti a personale esperto, divulgazione di materiale informativo, comunicazioni) mirate alla crescita professionale, all’ adeguamento delle singole competenze tecnico-professionali ed alla conoscenza dei valori, della cultura e della politica ambientale dell’azienda.
COMPETENZA: "l'abbinamento” delle abilità, conoscenze, esperienze e attributi che portano ad una esecuzione effettiva dei compiti affidati.
CORSI AMBIENTALI INTERNI: attività formative realizzate in azienda, al fine di sviluppare nei partecipanti conoscenze e capacità in tema ambientale connesse allo specifico ruolo ricoperto.
CORSI AMBIENTALI ESTERNI: tutte le iniziative formative realizzate per lo più in forma individuale attraverso l’iscrizione a corsi specialistici esterni in tema ambientale.
CONTROLLO OPERATIVO: la pianificazione dell'insieme delle attività di monitoraggio, controllo e regolazione tali da impedire il non rispetto della legislazione, ad esempio il superamento dei limiti di emissioni, o il verificarsi di non-conformità rispetto alla politica ambientale.
PIANO AMBIENTALE DI CANTIERE: documento nel quale vengono riportate le modalità di gestione ed i controlli da effettuare per mitigare gli impatti ambientali che si possono generare dalle attività di cantiere.
PIANO DI CONTROLLO AMBIENTALE: documento riportante l’elenco dei controlli ambientali identificati per i vari aspetti ambientali identificati.
SCHEDA DI CONTROLLO AMBIENTALE: documento, specifico per i vari aspetti ambientali significativi, riportante l’esito dei controlli eseguiti.
PRESTAZIONE AMBIENTALE: Risultati misurabili del sistema di gestione ambientale, conseguenti al controllo esercitato dall’organizzazione sui propri aspetti ambientali, sulla base della sua politica, dei suoi obiettivi e dei suoi traguardi.
INDICATORE AMBIENTALE: descrizione di un aspetto ambientale o di un fattore correlato misurabile che deve essere tenuto sotto controllo.
TARATURA: Insieme delle operazioni che stabiliscono, sotto condizioni specificate, la relazione tra i valori indicati da uno strumento di misurazione, o da un sistema di misurazione, o i valori rappresentati da un campione materiale e i corrispondenti valori noti di un misurando.
NON CONFORMITA’ AMBIENTALE: Mancato soddisfacimento di un requisito con riferimento a:
Norme legislative o regolamentari;
Accordi volontari o impegni sottoscritti;
Norme, procedure, istruzioni o altre responsabilità previste dal SGA (omissis).
AZIONE RISOLUTIVA AMBIENTALE: Qualsiasi intervento intrapreso per risolvere la NCA.
AZIONE CORRETTIVA AMBIENTALE (ACA): Qualsiasi intervento tecnico/gestionale intrapreso per eliminare le cause di non conformità al fine di evitarne il ripetersi.
AZIONE PREVENTIVA AMBIENTALE (APA): Qualsiasi intervento tecnico/gestionale intrapreso per eliminare cause di potenziali NCA al fine di prevenire il verificarsi. In particolare per APA si intende l’insieme delle attività finalizzate all’individuazione dei segnali e degli indicatori in grado di identificare tendenze in atto, che comportino la necessità di intervenire sul SGA.
RECLAMI AMBIENTALI: Qualsiasi richiesta da parte di terzi interessati riguardo un aspetto a valenza ambientale da modificare.
VERIFICA AMBIENTALE INTERNA: Processo sistematico, indipendente e documentato atto ad ottenere le evidenze di verifica e valutarle in maniera oggettiva, per determinare in che misura i criteri di applicazione del sistema di gestione ambientale stabiliti dall’organizzazione siano rispettati.

3.0 DEFINITIONS FROM ISO 14001:2004
ENVIRONMENT: Surroundings in which an organization operates, including air, water, land, natural resources, flora, fauna, humans and their interrelation.
ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECT: Element of an organization’s activities, product or service that can interact with the environment.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: Any change to the environment, whether adverse or beneficial, wholly or partially resulting from the environmental aspects.
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS): The part of an organization management system used to develop and implement its environmental policy and manage its environmental aspects.
ENVIRONMENTAL OBJECTIVE: overall environmental goal, arising from the environmental policy, that an organization sets itself to achieve.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY: Statement of an organization of its intentions and principles in relation to its overall environmental performance as formally expressed by the Top Management.
ENVIRONMENTAL TARGET: Detailed performance requirement, applicable to the organization or part thereof, that arises from the environmental objectives and the needs to be set and met in order to achieve those objectives.
INTERESTED PARTY: Individual or group concerned with or affected by the environmental performance of an organization.
RECORD: document that contains objective evidence which shows how activities are being performed and what kind of results are being achieved.
ELABORAZIONE: the activity of prepare and write down the document.
REVIEW: the activity of controlling that input data of the document matches with the system technical, contractual requirements.
APPROVAL: evaluation of the compliance of the document before its issue and application.
TRACEABILITY: the ability of going back to the history, the use and location of what is taken into account.
REGULATION: are all the rules involving processes and activities, made up of directives, laws, ordinances, memorandums, notices, deliberations, decrees, etc…at European, National, Regional, Provincial, Municipal, sectorial level. Special measures deriving from agreements between Bodies/Authorities are included.
ACTION: a single document concerning the environmental field involving the company’s processes and activities.
TRAINING: a company process strictly related to the human resources development, containing several activities aimed at the professional improvement, the adjustment of the individual technical-professional competences, the awareness of the company values, culture and environmental policy. Activities consist of internal and external training courses, assistance of expertise, distribution of information material, communication.
COMPETENCE: is the ability, knowledge, experience and quality to achieve effectively the activity you are tasked with.
INTERNAL COURSES: training activities carried out inside the company, in order to develop the eco-friendly knowledge and competencies of the participants strictly related to the task held.
EXTERNAL COURSES: all training initiatives, mainly individual, carried out trough the participation to environmental-related specific courses outside the company.
OPERATIONAL CONTROL: the planning, monitoring, controlling and directing activities involved with the respect to the regulation, such as the overcome of the emission limits or nonconformity evidence based upon the environmental policy.
CONSTRUCTION SITE PLAN: a document containing all management and control methods to reduce the environmental impacts caused by the construction site activity.
ENVIRONMENTAL EVALUATION PLAN: a document containing the list of environmental evaluations determined for the environmental aspects identifies.
ENVIRONMENTAL EVALUATION RECORD: a specific document for the significant environmental aspects reporting the evaluation results achieved.
ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE: Measurable results of the environment management system, related to an organization’s control of its environmental aspects, based upon its environmental policy, objectives and targets.
ENVIRONMENTAL INDICATOR: description of an environmental aspect or a measurable related element that must be taken under control.
CALIBRATION: the overall operations setting the relationship between the values of a measurement instrument, or a measurement system, or the values of a material sample and the corresponding measurand known values.
ENVIRONMENTAL NON-CONFORMANCE: The lack of being in harmony or agreement with a requirement referring to:
Regulations and rules;
Voluntary agreements and written commitments;
Rules, procedures, instructions or other responsibilities in accordance with (omissis)i’s EMS (Environmental Management System).
ENVIRONMENTAL RESOLUTIVE ACTION: Any action undertaken to remove nonconformities.
ENVIRONMENTAL CORRECTIVE ACTION (ECA): All technical/managerial steps taken to remove the causes of an existing nonconformity in order to avoid they can occur again.
ENVIRONMENTAL PREVENTIVE ACTION (EPA): All technical/managerial steps taken to remove causes of potential nonconformities – ones that haven’t yet occurred. In particular, EPA, Environmental Preventive Action, means all activities aimed at determining current trends that can bring to act on the EMS (Environmental Management System).
ENVIRONMENTAL CLAIMS: Any demand put in by third party to modify an environmental aspect.
INTERNAL AUDIT: A systematic and documented verification process of objectively obtaining and evaluating evidence to determine whether an organization’s environmental management system audit criteria set by the organization are met.
