Presently based in Gent, Belgium as freelance translator
previously I lived in Japan for 6 years (3 years at Tokyo University, 3 years as international production coordinator for a film & tv production company), and still visit annually.
The past 10 years I have also lectured on Japanese language, culture & society at Ghent University, Mercator college and other academic institutions.
I have been involved in various international film & tv co-productions with Japan.

Translation experience is varied, and includes:
- over 1000 technical and scientific documents (mainly patents, research reports and manuals)
- English and Dutch translation of novels by Nobel Prize winners Oe Kenzaburo, Kawabata Yasunari and other Japanese literature
(Dutch translation was nominated for the Noma Literary Translation Award 2000)
- Catalogues of several film festivals
