In addition to the elegant equipment now available for research there is more money. There has to be if only to make the fancy equipment available. Anyone with big ideas, if they are reasonably good ones, can manage sooner or later to find financial support for them and can thereby become more or .less independent of his local university administration. This in itself is indeed a most extraordinary situation which has both good and bad points. It certainly provides ample encouragement for anyone who has, or thinks he has, the urge for research, and thereby more people are .brought into scientific laboratories. For a nation which produces more goods than it can use and simultaneously suffers from the curse of unemployment, this indeed, is a fortunate circumstance. There is always room for more men in research if the money is available, because the unknown is without limit and any increase in knowledge is an advantage to society. | Translation - Chinese
