Primarily, the allogeneic bone marrow stem cell grafting has been implemented in the therapy of hematologic neoplasia as a strategy to condition the sustenance of the recipient’s bone marrow hematopoietic function after radical cytoreduction. Objective: Up to 90% of embolic strokes that occur in patients with atrial fibrillation originate from the left atrial appendage. Exclusion of the left atrial appendage during cardiac surgery may decrease the future risk of stroke, especially in patients with atrial fibrillation or at high risk for developing atrial fibrillation. We report the initial results of a multicenter Food and Drug Administration trial to assess the safety and efficacy of a novel left atrial appendage exclusion clip.
Methods: Patients undergoing elective cardiac surgery via median sternotomy with atrial fibrillation or a Congestive Heart Failure, Hypertension, Age > 75 Years, Diabetes Mellitus, Stroke score greater than 2 were eligible for concomitant AtriClip (Atricure Inc, Westchester, Ohio) device insertion. Device insertion (35, 40, 45, and 50 mm) was performed at any point after sternotomy on or off cardiopulmonary bypass. Safety was assessed at 30 days, and efficacy of left atrial appendage exclusion was assessed at operation (by transesophageal echocardiography) and 3-month follow-up (by computed tomography angiography or transesophageal echocardiography).

The common law and other legal systems long professed the assumption that it was necessary to commit physical damage or injury (wrong) or to threaten an immediate injury, before the protection of the courts could be invoked by the person requiring judicial protection. It was apparently not sufficiently realized that rights may be impaired and disturbed and injuries suffered by the mere assertion of claims which throw rights into doubt, uncertainty, and jeopardy. Zdaniem Janusza Jankowiaka, głównego ekonomisty Polskiej Rady Biznesu, obniżka ratingu Francji oraz innych krajów europejskich komplikuje sytuację EFSF, a rykoszetem uderzy w złotego.
- Europejski Fundusz Stabilności Finansowej bazuje przy swoich gwarancjach na krajach, które mają rating AAA. Obniżenie ratingu choćby jednego z tych krajów o jeden stopień oznacza, że z potencjalnych środków, które Europejski Fundusz Stabilności Finansowej miał do dyspozycji w wysokości 440 mld euro, ubywa około 158 mld. - The European Financial Stability Fund relies in its guarantees on the countries to have the AAA rating. Lowering the rating of even one of these countries by one notch only means that of the potential wherewithal of 440 billion euro the European Financial Stability Fund had, 158 billion becomes taken away. If you add the liabilities that the Fund has already towards countries like Greece, Portugal, or Ireland, 150 billion euro is what you have left of the overall 440 billion – says Jankowiak.
According to the economist, one may expect the rating lowering to affect all segments of the financial market. Three interventions at the close of 2011 helped keep public debt below a key legal threshold
Eleventh-hour currency market interventions by two state institutions helped Poland avoid breaching the 55 percent debt-to-GDP threshold, which would have triggered legally mandated budget cuts. Deputy Finance Minister Dominik Radziwiłł said last week that the debt-to-GDP ratio amounted to 54 percent, keeping it just below the 55 percent limit.
The exchange rate used in Poland’s debt calculation is decided on the final trading day of the year, which in 2011 fell on Friday, December 30. The government was keen to ensure that the złoty was not too weak on that day since around a third of Poland’s debt is denominated in foreign currencies.
A total of three interventions were carried out by Polish state institutions, with Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) and then the central bank intervening on December 29 to push the złoty to around zł.4.40 against the euro, from zł.4.46 earlier in the day.
The following day saw BGK intervene once again in the morning, allowing the central bank to fix the exchange rate used to calculate debt at 4.4168. In the end, Poland’s debt crept under the limit.
The Finance Ministry expects public debt to fall to 52.4 percent this year, and then to 47.4 percent in 2015.

Trzy interwencje u końca roku 2011 pomogły utrzymać dług publiczny poniżej prawnie kluczowego progu
Interwencje walutowe ostatniej chwili przez dwie instytucje państwowe pomogły Polsce uniknąć przekroczenia progu 55 procent długu do GDP, który uruchomiłby prawnie wymagane cięcia budżetowe. Wiceminister Finansów Dominik Radziwiłł powiedział w zeszłym tygodniu, że wskaźnik dług-do-GDP wyniósł 54 procent, na granicy 55-cio procentowego limitu.
Kurs wymiany używany w kalkulacji polskiego długu jest określany na ostatni dzień handlowy roku, który przypadł w roku 2011 na piątek, 30 grudnia. Rząd usilnie zabiegał by złoty nie był tego dnia za słaby, jako że około jednej trzeciej polskiego długu jest określane w walutach obcych.

The role of feedback in language processing, a master’s thesis by Teresa Pelka, a brief.
The thesis recognizes the role of feedback in human processing of language as belonging within the domain of human information processing. A reservation on terminology and its use is made to posit human language as constituting the very scope of skill unmatched by artificial intelligence. Human physiology is named for the necessary reference in a discussion of the role of feedback in language behavior.
The thesis terms feedback functions as closed-loop processes to control open-loop, programmed ones. Observations on feedback phenomena become tested for validity at the cellular, intercellular, as well as interschematic levels to the human nervous system as a human information processing structure. The author’s ambition is to show grammar as a progressing story, not just a set of separate modules. Obviously not all-encompassing, the course does yet present an integrated picture of the language reality. The generative grammar framework is to give the student the linguistic flexibility corresponding with that of a native speaker at the language level.
More than a hundred examples along with more than a hundred exercises should provide background and practice enough to attain this goal. Light musings on Aristotle are likely to enhance the abstract thinking necessary to grasp a grammar of a language. The author’s intention is to guide the student from the language basics to the intermediate level – enough to work and live in an English speaking country. Ambicją autorki jest przedstawienie gramatyki jako rozwijającą się opowieść, nie jedynie zbiór odrębnych części. Oczywiście nie wszechobejmujący, kurs prezentuje jednak zintegrowany obraz rzeczywistości językowej. Zrąb gramatyki generatywnej ma dać studentom elastyczność językową porównywalną z ową mówców natywnych na podobnym poziomie językowym.
Ponad sto przykładów wraz z ponad setką ćwiczeń powinno dostarczyć podłoża i praktyki wystarczających dla osiągnięcia tego celu. Lekkie dumania nad Arystotelesem mogą wspomóc myślenie abstrakcyjne potrzebne dla pojmowania gramatycznego. Intencją autorki jest wskazanie studentom drogi od językowych podstaw do poziomu średniozaawansowanego – dość by pracować i żyć w kraju anglojęzycznym. Obecna podróż składa się z czterech części. |

'Ms Teresa Pelka worked for LektorKlett Publishing House from 2000 to 2003. She participated in various publishing projects as a translator from English into Polish and from Polish into English.
LektorKlett is a daughter company of Ernst Klett Verlag, the leading German educational publishing house. Our publications focus mainly on Foreign Language Teaching and include self-study materials, reference (bilingual dictionaries) as well as language courses for schools.
