About me
I'm a person with a passion for translation, and meaning. I enjoy translation because of the opportunities it gives to reflect on the broad field of understanding.

To me, translation is not just about knowing or speaking the language pairs, but about the different levels of understanding that a translation allows us to reach, whatever the subject, there is always something to learn about a translation, its languages and its cultures and their points of view.

Because great part of my past professional experience relates to programming/sysadmin, I hold as an asset high skill in the use and domain of computer related technologies, knowledge of the process involved in localization, good understanding of national encodings and technologies such as gettext, po files, etc. Despite this fact, I seldom use CAT software unless necessary or required by the client. Most of the time I like to keep myself very personal to every part of the translation, to this purpose I use my own scripts on more general tools like EMACS.

Quality of the translation is kept is on top of my list, as I usually consider unethical to think otherwise.

Software Systems Engineer with long experience performing software developer and sysadmin/DBA roles. I familiar and work with several Unix variants, HP-UX, Tru64, Linux (debian, centOS, etc), OpenBSD, and the average MS Windows system.

Currently living in Mexico.

Past experiences include live interpreter and translator for Japanese industrial engineering support teams working abroad on production lines for electric wiring, assembly and QC/QA, and tourist translator (English-Spanish)

With strong interests on very different fields such as linguistics, pedagogy, philosophy, history, anthropology, literature, music, and sciences.

I've been involved in free software movement, martial arts (Chinese and Japanese).

Solid foundation on computer sciences and math specialties.
