Hi everyone, Can I ask for CodeZapper peer support on ProZ? Is this the right place? Specifically, I'd like to know: - in order to get the cleanest results for files converted with Nitro PDF Professional, am I right in executing the following operations, in order: PDFTidy -> CZL -> PDFFix ? I'm using the latest build 2.7.2. Thanks, Marc

there’s a readme file included in the delivery, you know... here’s a quote: CZL: Main CodeZapper series of macros to remove rogue codes on the active document. Batch: Macro to run one or more of the other macros in batch mode on all the Word or RTF files in a folder. CZAll: As well as running CZL to remove rogue codes, moves footnotes to the end of the document, moves text out of text boxes into a table and moves images out into a temporary file. CZback: Reverses the CZAll process (moves footnotes back, moves text boxes and moves images back into place). PDFFix: Provides extra zapping for PDF converted files and stubborn codes not removed by CZL. PDFTidy: "Tidies up" PDF converted files before running CZ. | | | Marc Rizkallah Austria Local time: 23:10 Member (2010) English to French + ... TOPIC STARTER
Hi Stefan, Thanks for replying. Of course I read the Readme file and that's where my strategy comes from. But from the Readme it's not all that clear what "Tidies up converted files" means. It's not clear whether I can run PDFFix instead of CZL or after CZL. And finally it's not clear what "stubborn codes" might be and what the trade-offs are for running PDFFix. Is it just more time-consuming? Thanks, Marc | | | Stefan de Boeck (X) Belgium Local time: 23:10 English to Dutch + ... I don’t really | Sep 14, 2011 |
I really only use it on word files but the first thing to get rid of in a converted pdf would be the hard returns on every line, no? I think that’s what PDFTidy does (or should do) especially because we are advised to run it before running CZ. So I’d run both, in that order. And why not bomb it with PDFFix after that? Even if remaining ‘stubborn codes’ may only consist of things not normally found in a word document. No idea there. Each of these subroutines must be look... Each of these subroutines must be looking for different bits; it’s not like they’re going to cancel each other out. Have fun nuking, I’d say. ▲ Collapse | |

Hi Stefan, Yes, that's pretty much what I'm doing, I was just seeking professional approval. Thanks for your replies.
