But I will not vote on this one as there is no "other" option and "None" cannot be just "None". I am happy where I am but could/would be as happy elsewhere!
Samantha Payn United Kingdom Local time: 06:03 Member (2008) Russian to English + ... None, but before then ... | Apr 2, 2012 |
I voted None and I wouldn't because I wouldn't now, but I have spent a couple of extended periods living in Russia, which I thoroughly enjoyed at the time.

Allison Wright (X) Portugal Local time: 06:03
From Zimbabwe to Portugal three and a half years ago. Not likely to move again. I like it where I am!
John Cutler Spain Local time: 07:03 Spanish to English + ...
In the last 10 years, none. I changed my country of residence 26 years ago (US>Spain) and have rarely thought of moving back. This turned out to be the land of opportunities for me.
I moved from Germany to New Zealand permanently, but that was 11 years ago. So it won't count for this poll.
I lived in Brazil for 5 years, then went back to the UK and am currently in Portugal...no plans to change my country of residence again at the moment. Repeating what Allison said, I'm quite happy here at the moment!

I have no plans to move, as moving a whole family can be quite an upheaval, unless there is a very good reason to do so. However, who knows what may be round the corner...

See more I suppose there are very different reasons for people moving country: to learn or improve their knowledge of a language, attraction of a different way of life, climate, scenery, discontent with where they are, a job/career, a partner, partner's job, to escape discrimination or persecution ... . For some the move may be long-term, whether temporary or permanent and other people might need or choose to be serial movers during one or more decades. So the question only gives us a tiny glimpse of the variety of people's experiences. I moved to France from England for at least four of the above reasons five and a half years ago and my only regret is not having done it sooner. Indeed, when I visit England, I find myself impatient to get back here. On the other hand, many years ago, I moved from England to Israel and loathed it but, for family reasons, ended up reluctantly staying eight years. So, not all moves are the same and whether one likes moving country or not depends on who and where. ▲ Collapse
