Yes - almost all of them do anyway Jun 10, 2015

I've learned the hard way. More than once I've left my office thinking I had delivered a job only to find out later that the file was too big, there was a power outage somewhere along the line, or -- horrors! -- I had clicked to Save my e-mail instead of Send it. If something can happen, it will.

I only do this sometimes, mostly when I've been having problems with my e-mails or Wi-Fi/Internet, which is quite a common occurrence.
I usually expect my clients to confirm receipt anyway, but in cases such as these, or if the client tends to be rather lax about these things, as a couple of them are, I will normally add a "please confirm" request to the e-mail along with the delivered documents.

Without asking Jun 10, 2015

As a general rule, my clients send an email to confirm that they have received the translation and to thank me anyway. I may write to check if they don't or I don't hear anything from a new client.

No, but most do Jun 10, 2015

Practically all my clients send a line saying thanks, files received.
I ask new clients for their VAT number if I can't see it on their website or address on their mails.

I am never quite happy until the mail comes!

My clients always acknowledge receipt for the work I did without me having to ask them.

Always from new clients; my old clients acknowledge receipt anyway.

Yes Jun 10, 2015

Yes, I always ask clients to confirm receipt. Most do but not all.
If I'm leaving the office shortly after delivery I try to leave a copy of the file in a secure location online that I can access from another device if needed, just in case something goes wrong.
It pays to be prepared for the unexpected!

Not always Jun 10, 2015

Most of my clients (the ones I am happy to work with) confirm without asking, but in case of new clients or direct clients I always ask for confirmation (at least for the first time).

Always - and also for their own sake Jun 10, 2015

The one reason for requesting this is for your own protection, so you have proof of receipt. But the other reason is to make sure they actually get it. I like to deliver early if possible so that the client has plenty of time to check and ask questions. Sometimes a translation gets lost in cyberspace, and the client doesn't try to contact you until it is so late that the timing is at emergency levels. So if I don't hear that it has been received, I check up on it. One of my clients simply w... See more

I don't have to. My clients always confirm receipt of what I'm sending them.

Most of the times I do Jun 10, 2015

They always confirm, the same way I confirm receipt when they send me the source files to be translated, and the same way I confirm when I finally receive their payment, thanking them and telling them how it has been a pleasure working with them, blah blah...
Most of the times I ask them to confirm receipt of the translated files. It's rhetorical, since they always confirm, but it does not hurt to ask.

This question has already been asked in a previous poll, I believe...

Thank you all for your contribution! Jun 10, 2015

I really used to get mad when clients did not confirm receipt of my deliveries. Fortunately, this is an exception and not the rule! Now I try not to bother much if any does not, otherwise if I get no complaint, that means they received the files safely! (and, therefore, are happy with the result)

By the way, sorry for being repetitive with this poll, but by the time I had created it I was sure there was no similar one

Have a nice day!
