However, if you are found to be a spammer and/or scam artist after you have created your ac-count and have gotten back your deposit, your account will be immediately terminated and your information forwarded to your local Authorities.

Dear coleagues, do you think it really can work like that? This is the company that found me through Proz and probably I have to report about them?

Sounds fishy Aug 18, 2015

Sounds very fishy to me - looks like they are the scam artists here. I've never come across anything similar. I would certainly report them and refuse to go forward with the account registration.

One of the difficulties I see here is that basically anyone can call themselves a "Freelance Translator" (laws can vary by country, but I don't think it's a protected title anywhere). How would this be verified by the company?

I have never seem any agency asking for money beforehand Aug 18, 2015

The only agency that I heard of asking for money was a famous scam in the translation world. I would report them.

I wouldn't touch that with a bargepole. Are they listed on the Blue Board and other rating sites?

Sounds like a scam Aug 18, 2015

I would assume that any entity asking for payment in order to assign you work is a scam.

I would assume that any email received alleguedly from a company but using a free email address is an impersonation (freelancers using free email addresses are OK, though).

Regards,
Enrique

I don't know how to find them on here, I have their web site and the page at translatorscafe for their agency, but at Proz there is not job offer from them in the dates when I appllied to their agency.

I was contacted by a guy who later in their documents was called a recruiter but it was done from a gmail box.
And later the offer to collaborate and pay was already sent from corporate address and another person..

Report them Aug 18, 2015

Translation agencies should not be asking you for money. I would assume it's a scam.

Are you that desperate? Aug 18, 2015

Are you that desperate for work that you waste your time with "agencies" like this one??

Not only pay-for-work should not even be considered, but the acknowledgement that this company's system is being "spammed" is by itself a reason to stay away.

Do report them to ProZ.com staff Aug 18, 2015

This is a 100% scam. Don't let the Blue Board keep you from doing the right thing.

How do you know if the message you received came from this company, given that it was sent from a Gmail address?

Regards,
Enrique
