Here is some baroque music to relax while (or after) translating

I sang in Bologna on April 5th, at the events for Farinelli's 3rd centenary of birth, and here you have the mp3 recordings. Quality is mediocre, because it was taken from the video.
I hope you enjoy it.
The arias come from Hasse's "Artaserse", a baroque opera which was a "greatest hit" of the 18th century, so to speak
"Per questo dolce amplesso" was originally sung by Farinelli at the premiere. It is a lovely, sentimental aria (the character is begging his father to look after his beloved by sake of an embrace).
"Pallido il sole" is much more . It was premiered by Farinelli's rival, Senesino. The character is almost gone mad, and is prey of fears and negative thoughts.
Farinelli sang both arias, among a few others, for the King of Spain, exclusively, in order to soothe his melancholy.

"Per questo dolce amplesso" is such a lovely, warm aria. It can be very moving

but I had the great good fortune to be part of a group serenaded by this wonderfully gifted young man in a relaxed atmosphere, after supper in a restaurant in Spain.
To hear him unleash his voice a mere few feet away is quite an experience.
To all those lucky enough to live in cities where Fla will perform, I advise you not to miss your chance.
