In addition to improvements in readability and ease-of-use, this profile features the following enhancements: More complete information, greater flexibility - an availability calendar - more complete contact data - data on the profile owner's locale (local time, map) - ability to sort language pairs according to personal preference - ability to hide/show contact information by type Readability and navigational improvements - more organized and expandable structure - standardized and personalized modes - ability to adjust font size - a top menu (members have the option of hiding this) Improved promotional aspects - advanced options for search engine optimization, including ability to customize title and URL format - crosslinking to members (among members, and from non-members to members) ---------------------------------- To see your profile as it would be displayed in the new profile format, go to: http://www.proz.com/profile (Note that you must be a member, and you must be logged in.) We will begin making use of the new display format as early as May. However, your current profile design will remain accessible thereafter (at the current "/pro" URL), so if you prefer it (or have given out the URL), you can continue to use it as-is. On the other hand, if you prefer the new format, you will be able to start using it at the beginning of April. For now, your assistance in improving this new profile format would be appreciated. Please post your feedback and suggestions on the new design here, in response to this topic. My initial reaction is that I prefer this layout. Then again, I'm hardly the one to give an opinion as I've had a virtually empty profile for 5 years, because when I joined ProZ I wasn't actively looking for work. Only one thing but which I think is important. It would be very useful if it were possible to show more than one e-mail address. I doubt there are any of us who have only one address and, if one account is down for any reason, contacts would have a sec... See more My initial reaction is that I prefer this layout. Only one thing but which I think is important. It would be very useful if it were possible to show more than one e-mail address. I doubt there are any of us who have only one address and, if one account is down for any reason, contacts would have a second means of getting in touch. I realize that the page cannot be edited (I've tried twice) but in the edit page you're only offered one line for an address. Cheers, Andy PS. Knew there was something else. It shows my "Affiliation" with an agency I posted on the BB. Not only am I not "affiliated", I'd prefer not to be associated with it in any way.

When I click "edit" below the calendar, I get the following error: "You do not appear to be authorized to access this page." The other sections seem to work fine. | | | awilliams United Kingdom Local time: 06:35 Italian to English + ... new profile format | Mar 23, 2006 |
I love the idea of the availability calendar in theory. Having the local time is really handy - just this morning I was called at an ungodly hour of the morning on my mobile. I personally find the "horizontal" rather than "vertical" layout - in particular in terms of the Expertise, KudoZ activity and Experience entries - rather harsh on the eyes. Whether this is simply because it is new, I don't know. | | | Hynek Palatin Czech Republic Local time: 07:35 Member (2003) English to Czech + ...

Personally, I would prefer the design to be more similar to the old one. I particularly don't like the new big information box on top. It makes the profile longer and one has to scroll to get to the most important information (the profile proper). I know we can make the information box appear at the bottom of the page, but IMO it would be best to put it on the left as there is so much unused space there. Besides, this way the glossaries and specialisation areas would be put in a column which would make them more readable (now they make an impression of a mess to me). I would also prefer the Portfolio and KudoZ sections to be more visible, just as they used to be (separate tabs). And that would be it for now Once again, a big thank you to the Staff! Joanna [Edited at 2006-03-23 15:15] Oh, yes, I agree with Hynek. I think the photo is way too big.

Can't find the clock setting and the time shown in my profile is wrong (it's one hour later here than it shows). Other then that - wow! Magda | | | Giles Watson Italy Local time: 07:35 Italian to English In memoriam The new format looks fine | Mar 23, 2006 |

It's a nice touch but it gives my local time as GMT, not CET (and the clocks go forward next Sunday, 26 March). Cheers, Giles | | | justin C United States Local time: 02:35 English Changing your time zone | Mar 23, 2006 |
Hello all! Thank you all very much for your feedback, we are making note of user suggestions. Hi Justin, Thanks for guidance, managed to set the time correctly. I also noticed that when clicking on '+' sign to expand the Expertise field, the expanded text overlaps with the line below and it's illegible. Both in owner's and visitor's view. I'm using Firefox 1.0.7 Magda | |

Hi Magda, I also noticed that when clicking on '+' sign to expand the Expertise field, the expanded text overlaps with the line below and it's illegible. Try refreshing the page and trying again, the problem shoud go away. We are currently looking into a fix for the problem (it seems to happen rarely). * I don't see the original text on my portfolio, I only see the translation. * I can only see one of my credentials. * I don't see the map.

1) Summary information is too crowded. 2) Running text on the freetext part of the profile doesn't show on the new format. 3) I can't edit my calendar of avalability (I get the same error message as Hynek, and I can't login) 4) I would prefer that the options I mark as "not visible" in the contact tab were not shown on the Visitor's view (they are now shown as "Not visible") Otherwise it is a nice improvement.
