Hi Ralf: I am desperately trying to get familiar with Trados 6 Freelance. Whenever I launch Translator's workbench and try to use the "Analyze", "Translate" functions, the message "MultiTerm is not running" appears and there is no response. Secondly, in MultiTerm 5 the source language and target laguage drop-downs are empty. I'd be grateful if you could offer some tips! Regards Felix

You can deactivate Multiterm if you don't use MT database
Jun 15, 2006
Go to Options/Term Recognition Options/Settings tab and uncheck "Run terminology recognition in the background".

I am using a Demo/Trial version of Trados 2006 and I am having exactly the same problem as Felix. I can't perform any translation because I get an error saying that Multiterm is not running. I believe I have to launch it through the "Terminology Recognition Option" where I only get MultiTerm 5 (Trados 5) as the only version option. Then I think I have to select a Termbase. Hi All,
I am using a Demo/Trial version of Trados 2006 and I am having exactly the same problem as Felix. I can't perform any translation because I get an error saying that Multiterm is not running. I believe I have to launch it through the "Terminology Recognition Option" where I only get MultiTerm 5 (Trados 5) as the only version option. Then I think I have to select a Termbase. I have never created a Termbase before since I am using Trados for the first time so I tried to open a sample *.mtw file that came with the download. However, when I try to open it I get an error massage saying that Multiterm is not running and a window asks if I want to start it. Choosing Yes leads me to another message saying "could not launch Multiterm 5. Please start it manually" and an error message appears (50152): MultiTerm is not running.
According to the Workbench Help tool this error refers to the following:
----- MultiTerm not running. (error 50152) Cause You are using Translator's Workbench without MultiTerm.
Resolution Translator's Workbench's active terminology recognition feature can only work if you have started MultiTerm and opened a termbase with a fuzzy index.
If you ignore the message, Translator's Workbench assumes that you do not want to work with MultiTerm at the moment. It maximises its source and translation memory windows, and hides the terminology window. If you would like to start MultiTerm and use the active terminology recognition feature (a step that we highly recommend), Translator's Workbench automatically recognises that MultiTerm is now running and displays its terminology window.
----
In other words, the Workbench Help is not really helping me much here... its not telling me how to launch MultiTerm.
Can anyone help me find how to run/launch manually? Did Felix found a way around this problem?
Btw, I unchecked "Run terminology in the background" as Vensa suggested but the problem remains.
