Hello,
Is there a way to search for only words in upper case in Word in one go and for example change them to red font color, that is I do not want to search for each seperate word, but all at once?

For example:
The search would find:
CORRELATION FACTOR
ONBOARD STABILITY

but not:
correlation factor
onboard stability

or:
Correlation Factor
Onboard Stability

Best regards,
Cecilia

Yes, it's possible Oct 15, 2007

Go to "Replace" and write the words in upper case in the "Find" field, and again the same words in the "Replace field".

Then, click on "More" to see more options, and click "match case".. Then click on the "Format" drop down list, and select "Font". There, you can select red as a font colour.
Then click on "Replace all".

Sorry for being unclear... Oct 15, 2007

I want to search for *any* word and *all* words in upper case in a document without specifying any particular word, like you could search for all words in red font color, for example.

Best regards,
Cecilia

I don't think so Oct 15, 2007

Ah I get you now - you were clear alright but I didn't read properly.
I thought it might work if I leave the find and replace fields blank, then specify the replace format as "all caps", but it didn't work. It seems the all caps words have to be formatted as such in the original document, not simply typed by by pressing "caps lock".

Experimenting Oct 15, 2007

Thanks Nesrin,
Yeah, I have been experimenting with the setting you mentioned, wildcards, etc, but no been able to come up with any solution to this.

It would be GREAT if someone has a smart tip for this "problem" (it would save me a lot of time in a large project).

Best regards,
Cecilia

Try this on a working copy of the document:

Search for:
(<[A-Z]@>)

Replace with:
\1
and set the required format.

Check "Use wildcards" and replace.

Also Oct 15, 2007

1. In the Find box, click More, then Format - Font and check "All Caps".
2. Then, back in the main Find box, click Special and choose Any Character.
That should do the trick.

Does not work Oct 15, 2007

Hello Cristina,
Sorry, this does not work. As Nesrin pointed out the upper case letters would have had to have been formatted as such in the original document to make it possible to search for them with this setting.
(And if it had worked, it would have searched for all letters in upper case, for example a letter in the beginning of a word. I only wanted to find whole words in upper case.)

Best regards,
Cecilia

Unfortunately, this works only if the capital letters have been done with formatting in the first place. If they are merely typed in, as in Cecilia's example, this option does not work.
