I just received this bizarre email requesting interpretation services--I'm wondering if anyone else has received it, and whether you think it's valid or some kind of strange scam:

"My fiancee and I are planning to have our wedding in the Month of April. I have decided to give her a well treated package by giving her three options of venue of celebration amongst Australia,Canada and USA.Based on her option, She has decided to choose Usa and We will be staying within Your area.We will... See more

"My fiancee and I are planning to have our wedding in the Month of April. I have decided to give her a well treated package by giving her three options of venue of celebration amongst Australia,Canada and USA.Based on her option, She has decided to choose Usa and We will be staying within Your area.We will be staying in Usa for 3 Weeks from 5th of April to 26th of April 2008.My Fiancee only speaks Spanish and My native language,because her mum happens to come from Malaysia which I am also from.

We will require the services of a Spanish interpreter for 3 hours daily,for any 5 days that will be suitable for You within the period that We will be staying.I will not be available to go shopping with Her because I will also be busy taking care of some other wedding arrangements.So We will like to pay You in advance of our visit so She can be assured of an interpreter during her shopping for the wedding because this is her first visit.An early reply will be appreciated."


Among other things, I thought it was strange that he said they would be staying in "my area," without specifying. I received a similar type of email request a year or two ago. Any thoughts or insights would be appreciated! ▲ Collapse

Had quite of few of those before. Strange this is not Reverend Bigshot. I am surprised they have the correct language pair - in my case Russian was not even in the picture. Another red flag - numerous spelling and punctuation mark errors. Don't waste your time. Although once I was in the mood to reply asking for $5,000 a day, a limo and a suite at the 5-star hotel for personal needs.

You may like to read this thread on Interpreting forum. Apparently bishops and fortune heirs became too obvious, so scammers invent new stories. Be careful!
