Freelancers

Most ProZ.com translators are independent professionals. They operate freelance, which necessitates that they engage in such non-translation activities as sales and marketing, quoting, invoicing, entering into legal agreements, performing risk management and more. They are also responsible for making purchasing decisions related to hardware and software, for preparing and filing their taxes, for establishing business and personal insurance, investment, retirement programs, etc. Translation work is often inter-related with technical work, so translators are frequently called upon to learn new technical skills not strictly related to translation.

ProZ.com frees translators up to translate by providing tools that help them to dispense with non-translation tasks as efficiently as possible.
