The essay is concerned with the problems that a translator of literary works encounters when he/she comes across persons or things that are specific for the culture of the source language. Here the question arises whether to retain the original names and brands or to adjust them to be more familiar to readers who speak the target language.

The article discusses the challenges of creating adequate tests for any specific course. It is of essential importance that the test measures skills that are required - measuring knowledge of vocabulary would demand different exercises from measuring writing skills. It is possible to make tests more reliable by including different types of questions.
