Translation industry job listings

We have been selected by an NGO to translate a list of professions, comparable to (though smaller than) the ISCO of the ILO (see [HIDDEN] The project should be interesting for translators and editors who have a broad general interest and don't mind doing a little research. We are looking to extend our language teams with up to two translators and one editor for each language.

Please read the following carefully before bidding. Don't forget to scroll down to the specific criteria. This is a big project and we cannot spend time on bids that don't meet all criteria.

On the other hand: don't be put off by the criteria, they are reasonable enough if you enjoy working in a team of like-minded professionals!

To quote the first couple of professions of the first category in alphabetical order:

As our client wants the list to be translated as precisely and unambiguously as possible, we have devised the following roles in consultation with the client:

* For each language, two translators will translate all items independently of each other
* After delivery of the translations, one editor will choose the best alternatives and/or find other solutions
* The client's project coordinators will compare our twelve language versions and spot any differences in interpretation between different translator/editor teams
* The client's in-country teams will provide descriptions based on our translations and will provide feedback on their usefulness

The translators are to work on this 19-22 December, the editors 2-5 January. I hope to get the translators lined up by Monday night (CET), so we still have four days for the translation part.

The format is Excel. Total number of professions is 1341, distributed over 22 categories and some 200 subcategories. The total word count is 4478. I'm fully aware of the fact that a word count is not a good basis for a price calculation. After a thorough analysis of the list, I estimate the workload at a full 24 hours (translators) or 12 hours (editors). I would like you to quote a lump sum based on this assumption.

Note that we are NOT looking for the lowest bids. The quoted amount will only be used for selection if several bidders are otherwise equally suited for the job. However, not mentioning an amount at all will disqualify the bidder.

Of course, when we are interested in your quote we will send you the file for your own analysis so you can either confirm or adjust your quote.
