WhiteSmoke has announced their new “hybrid” product, WhiteSmoke 2011, one interface which includes the WhiteSmoke Translator, Writer, Dictionary and Templates to allow for maximum efficiency and ease of use.
I upgraded to the new WhiteSmoke All-In-One Writing Solution, and I have to say I'm loving the WhiteSmoke Translator. It provides me with accurate translations, as well as corrects my grammar and spelling errors. For me the best part is that it also offers suggestions of how to improve my writing. I highly recommend it.

Since you have only just signed up to ProZ, but appear to have extensive knowledge of this product, would you mind elaborating a bit on how this tool could be useful to professional translators working into their native language and with a very good command of vocabulary?
The provision of "accurate translations", correction of "grammar and spelling errors" and suggestions of how to "improve my writing" are not very relevant to professionals.

I may have a habit of being a bit suspicious, but I get a feeling you might be connected with the company behind this software. ▲ Collapse

It just speaks for itself...

The demo video on WhiteSmoke's site shows a paragraph from a news article being translated from Russian into English. It only appears for about a second, but it's enough to notice the translation quality. Not only does it lag far behind Google Translate (which in itself is far from accurate), it doesn't even transliterate unknown words from the Cyrillic alphabet into the Latin one. Two thumbs down. Alas, WhiteSmoke is WhiteSmokeAndMirrors.

The topic indeed looks like whisper marketing ad.
I cannot say anything about quality of this particular CAT, but I had used WhiteSmoke spell checker (not particularly complicated software, I believe) and decided to abandon it due to poor functionality

It's true that the translator is not 100% accurate, but it suits my needs. I use it to translate emails to/from German-speaking business associates. What I like about WhiteSmoke over Google Translate is that it also offers grammar check and a thesaurus, which is often needed after using a translation tool. So far it seems accurate enough for my needs. If you're translating large documents at a professional level, maybe the translator isn't for you.

I'm sorry if the title of my post threw you off. I'm new to this forum, and I thought since I was commenting on an article about the software it was a relevant title. I wanted to share that in my experience so far the software has saved me a lot of work and time, but it's just my experience and you're obviously entitled to feel differently.

If the software offers only "Word-to-word translation" in Russian-English pair
