2012 will mark NCLC’s 5th anniversary, an appropriate opportunity to reflect on the State of the Field – the past, the present, and the future of Chinese language education. The number of Chinese language and culture programs has grown rapidly in the past years, and this is an opportune time to focus on the needs and strategies for building sustainable, well-articulated programs, which result in a high level of language proficiency for students.
The 5th annual NCLC will address these questions:
- Where do Chinese language programs look for continued funding and sustainability?
- How can my school enhance language learning through international exchanges and partnerships?
- What can higher education and K–12 do to improve articulation?
- Where are the successful models for Chinese immersion and early language learning?
- How can a Chinese language program be a driver for student achievement across the curriculum?
Date and place: April 12-14, 2012, in Washington, DC.
