Even though the United States has no official language, communication does not seem to be a current issue.
According to Merriam-Webster, the English language originated in 1066 when Germanic tribes migrated to Britain where they exposed the language to foreigners such as Vikings and the Anglo-Norman French. They combined many different aspects with language, but there were no standards with the Germanic tribe. More >>

The Germanic tribes did not migrate to Britain in 1066. By 1066 the Anglo-Saxons had been in Britain for some 500 years already.

The English Language ORIGINATED in 1066?
Anglo-Norman French? Vikings? Foreigners? "exposed THE LANGUAGE" what language? What???
I can say this with confidence: Evan Munch should NOT be teaching English. Not if this statement reflects his repertoire of linguistic "knowledge".
Side note: the Normans (who invaded in 1066) could theoretically be considered "Germanic" since they were themselves the descendants of "Norsemen" or "Vikings".
