The complete English translation of the Yakut heroic epos Olonkho “Nyurgun Bootur the Swift” has been presented in London, the Yakutian government’s press service said on Tuesday.

“The first-ever presentation of the complete English translation of the Olonkho epic “Nyurgun Bootur the Swift” has taken place at the London office of Rossotrudnichestvo [Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation],” the report said.

The press service remarked that the translation took a decade to complete.

The Olonkho Research Institute of the Northeastern Federal University translated the epos. Institute employees and post-graduate students, students of the translation department of the Northeastern Federal University’s Institute of Foreign Philology and Regional Studies and acclaimed translators contributed to the project.
