Description
Have you ever lost your precious data? It’s almost always like a disaster. In this webinar, you can learn about the basic approaches to data backup, find out how to protect your data and avoid losing them, and get to know some applications and services that will help you in your efforts.
This first part covers different types of threats to data stored in your computer, and explains the basic options you have to protect your data using data backup. In a step-by-step demonstration, you can also learn how to install and set up and online data backup solution.

The second part (held on 12th October) presents suggested data backup scenarios for different types of translators (office-based, on the move, working with confidential data). You can also learn how to install and setup an offline backup solution, which automatically stores data to DVDs, external hard drives or other media. The webinar is concluded by a step-by-step demonstration of setting up a home-network backup solution with a multi-purpose central storage.

The topic is presented specifically from a translator's point of view, focusing on issues we all have to face. It does not require any in-depth computer knowledge.

Bio: Marek Buchtel is a freelance translator (English/Czech) with more than 15 years of experience in the industry. He specializes in business, legal and IT translations as well as website/software localizations.

In addition to translating, Marek provides workshops and trainings on topics related to increasing productivity of translators. He majored in information technology at the University of Economics in Prague, Czech Republic, and studied English/Czech translation and interpreting at the Institute of Translation Studies – Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. He’s the coordinator of the team working on the Czech localization of ProZ.com. Marek lives in Prague.
