Bio: Irene Koukia is a freelance translator, localizer, subtitler, copywriter and independent journalist. She used to be a Travel Executive (International Travel Consultant) since 1989 working for many international companies as a branch manager, among which TUI Hellas, Amphitrion Holidays, Plotin Travel etc. Irene used to be a German teacher in her free time. She has also taught for two semesters at IEK Naxos in the Hotel, F&B Department, providing students with theoretical and practical skills in Tourism. Since September 2008 she changed her career to follow the job she always wanted: Translation. Since Irene had no other relation to Translation business, she managed to grow her business successfully on her own, using and implementing managerial and marketing skills obtained during Irene's former profession. Today she is Holding a Certificate in Translation from Metafrasi School of Translation (2010) and she is currently working on the MA in Translation Studies at University of Portsmouth. Irene is making a living as a Freelance Translator and is working with a large number of clients all over the world. Irene's next step would be to grow her business even further and expand her business network.
