(FAO) of the United Nations said, “We cannot build peace on empty stomachs".
Seventy five percent of the world’s 923 million hungry and poor live in rural areas of developing
countries and derive their livelihoods from agriculture. Many of them also live in areas of
conflicts and wars. In conflicts and wars, crops and infrastructures are destroyed, human
resource is diverted or destroyed, and few invest to produce food. Food shortages lead to
hunger and hunger leads to conflicts and wars; thus the vicious circle perpetuates.
