About me
Kathrin Berger

During a one year stay in London, UK, where I was working as an au-pair I discovered that I enjoy working with the English language, both socially and professionally, and decided that I would enjoy working as a translator as this would mean I could cross bridges between people who would otherwise have difficulties communicating with each other.

Upon returning to Germany, I pursued a course of study in Linguistics at the University of Heidelberg. Thereafter, I further studied and focused on translations at a prominent language institute in Frankfurt, Germany.

On completion of my higher education, I returned to London, having had such a positive and informative experience there. This allowed me to take advantage of an excellent job opportunity and to further my career and love of linguistics. In London, I worked for several international corporations doing in-house translations. This work gave me a broad based knowledge of technical and specialised translations, as well as being able to interpret complex documents at short notice. I enjoyed in-house translations immensely as it was a great way of perfecting my translation skills as well as being exposed to a great variety of subject matters.

In London I also met my husband, a native New Zealander. Approximately five years later we decided to return to New Zealand, settling in the Tauranga region in the Bay of Plenty which is truly one of the most magnificent places I have ever lived. I have since had two beautiful sons and am settled into the "Kiwi" way of life... :-).

I have been working as a freelance translator for several years in cooperation with numerous international translation agency and for clients both in New Zealand, the United States and Europe in the fields of advertising and marketing, general business and finance.

My passion for languages and the art form of translation is still as strong as ever and I hope that with my services I may be able to help my customers make connections where otherwise they would have been "lost for words". My company is based on the belief that my customers' needs are of the utmost importance, and I am committed to meeting those needs.

I would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver the high quality service you expect!
