On September 12, 1940, four French teenagers followed their dog into an underground cavern halfway up the hillside above Montignac, in Lascaux, France, and made one of the great archeological finds of the 20th century.
They found the walls and ceiling of the cave covered with some 2,000 prehistoric drawings and etchings, dating back 15,000-17,000 years to Paleolithic and Madalenian times. | Translation - Arabic
في الثاني عشر من سبتمبر 1940م، تبع أربعة مراهقين فرنسيين كلبهم إلى كهف تحت الأرض في منتصف الطريق إلى التلال فوق مونتيقناك، في أسكو في فرنسا ليوجدوا واحدة من المكتشفات الأثرية العظيمة في القرن العشرين.
لقد وجدوا جدران سقف الكهف مغطاة بحوالي 2000 رسم وختم تعود لعصور ما قبل التاريخ، يعود تاريخها إلى ما قبل 15000-17000 سنة، إلى العصر الحجري والعصر المجدليني.
