Among the 120 national-level tourist attractions, nine are located in Sichuan, including the South-Sichuan Bamboo Ocean and the Gongga Mountain etc. In the province are also seven of the 99 Chinese Historic and Cultural Cities, including the cities of Chengdu and Zigong. More than 85% of pandas live in Sichuan and the province is therefore also known as the “home of pandas”. As a tourist attraction, pandas enjoy a popularity equal to the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors. Besides, Sichuan also owns 40 national level cultural heritage sites; 270 provincial level cultural heritage sites; 11 national level forest parks; 50 provincial level forest parks. The local customs in Sichuan are rich and colourful and Sichuan cuisine is well-known both domestically and internationally. Today’s Sichuan is effectively a prime tourist destination that attracts visitors from all over the world.
With its vast territory, abundant resources, and fascinating history, Sichuan has always enjoyed the reputation of “the Land of Heavenly Bliss”.
