Passionate about hotels, gastronomy and marketing, these are the domains in which I started my career. Turning to translation in 2001, my skills as a translator and proof-reader are reinforced by professional hands-on experience, training and qualifications in these specialist areas:


HOTELS AND TOURISM: after completing an MSc in International Hospitality Management, I gained valuable experience in all departments of a busy 4* hotel, including front office, food and beverage, housekeeping - even maintenance! I finished my career in the hotel industry as a sales and marketing manager close to London, promoting four manor house hotels and their services.

FOOD AND GASTRONOMY: I have been trained and worked in two professional kitchens, numerous restaurants and received training in nutrition and food hygiene. I have worked alongside award-winning chefs to market three gourmet restaurants in the UK.

MARKETING: Working within the hospitality industry, I was responsible for marketing four hotels as business and leisure destinations. I compiled the global sales strategies for the hotels, conducted market research and was responsible for advertising, promotion and PR.

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION: I have worked in administrative positions for companies based in both the UK and France. Besides general business correspondence, I have been responsible for preparing presentations and reports, compiling training manuals and user guides, and writing website content.


The majority of my translation projects comes from the above fields. However, I love the diversity of my work and I take on projects from other domains with much enthusiasm.

My personal background: I was born in England and educated in Britain and France. I have spent a total of 14 years studying and working in Germany and France, reinforcing my language skills and gaining a deep understanding of the French and German cultures. My geographical knowledge of the two countries is extensive - a result of my curious mind and my passion for travel.

I am now living in Germany with my French husband, our two trilingual children and our adorable scottie dog. Due to my personal circumstances and my international client base, I operate in a trilingual environment on a daily basis. Britain and France are never far away and I stay in touch with what’s happening there via the media and regular visits ‘home’.

And to wind down… I’m passionate about cooking, photography, art, sailing, swimming and gardening. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, curling up in front of a fire or lacing up my walking boots on a sunny day. I read a wide range of literature, enjoy the challenge of cryptic crosswords and travel as much as time and money allow.
