It is important to identify the root cause of any unfavourable outcome, and whether it may be extrapolated or is a “one-off”.
If necessary, a copy is taken of the current schedule, and potential options evaluated to recover any actual or forecast delay keeping in mind recovery strategies have a cycle time for implementation.
The use of time contingency concepts (the Control schedule being a Target Schedule) allows the forecast completion date to move into the contingency temporarily while a solution is finalised during the following month.
It is important that future activities are not arbitrarily shortened to recover schedule delay, but rigorous strategies developed, reviewed and approved, and put into the schedule.
Similarly, forecast progress curves must be derived from the schedule.
Not all trends show lateness, some trends will be favourable, and may provide opportunities to optimise, or improve the schedule in meeting KPI’s.

Es importante identificar la causa de raíz de algún resultado desfavorable, y si puede ser extrapolado o si se trata de un hecho aislado.
Si es necesario, se toma una copia del programa actual y se evalúan las opciones potenciales para recuperar el tiempo real o proyectado por demoras teniendo en cuenta que las estrategias de recuperación tienen un ciclo de tiempo para su implementación.
El uso de los conceptos de contingencias de tiempo (siendo el programa de control un Programa Objetivo) da lugar a que la fecha anticipada de finalización se corra temporalmente por la contingencia mientras se concreta una solución durante el mes siguiente.

De manera similar, las curvas de progreso proyectado deben derivar del programa.
No todas las tendencias denotan tardanza, algunas tendencias serán favorables y pueden brindar oportunidades para optimizar o mejorar el programa en reuniones de KPIs (Key Performance Indicators - Indicadores Claves de Resultados).
