| Translation - English Definition. The use of the term gender mainstreaming signifies that a preliminary analysis of each decision is to be conducted from the perspective of gender (feminine/masculine). It essentially concerns infrastructures, services, products and public facilities and is meant to respond to the fact that women and men generally have different approaches, needs and lifestyles. Gender mainstreaming and gender budgeting are obviously complimentary. However, gender mainstreaming needs ideally to be applied to decision-making while gender budgeting is the logical follow-up step to be introduced when drawing up budgets. | English to French: Excerpt from a text on scuba diving General field: Other Detailed field: Tourism & Travel | Source text - English This is great for the individual who wants to try the experience of scuba diving, or maybe you don't have enough time to complete a course.

| Translation - English Every farmhouse worthy of the name has its own vegetable garden, where wonderfully flavorful tomatoes, zucchinis, carrots and cavolo nero, or black nero cabbage, are homegrown. Typically, cavolo nero is one of the key ingredients of a traditional Tuscan soup, “la ribollita”. For gardens and vegetable patches, the only real pest is the fact that there are still many wild animals around. It’s not unusual in fact to run into hares, fawns, porcupines and boars on one of the country roads. It’s therefore easy to understand why Tuscans have such strong ties to their land and their traditions. Likewise, those who go there for the first time can’t help but fall under the enchantment of the green hills, the fields of sunflowers, the poppies among the ears of wheat… or the sight of a jackrabbit munching on a farmer’s lettuce! | More Less | | Years of translation experience: 12. For the past fifteen years, I have lived in France where I worked for ten years as a professional full-time translator for a European NGO (using UK English) and for the past five as an IP Office Manager and Executive Assistant to the head of an Intellectual Property law firm. I am called on to translate or edit texts from time to time, but am mostly involved in client relations and marketing, which requires that I speak and write both excellent French and English.
However, as my previous employer has expanded its activities, they often contact me to help them with urgent translations as a free-lance translator. Knowing that I am reliable, thorough and conscientious in my work, they have often recommended me to other organizations as well.
In recent years, I have begun translating additional languages. Although the addition of Spanish and Italian as source languages to my repertoire came about as the result of a natural interest in languages and of helping out a friend, I have since been paid for this kind of work as my customers have been satisfied with my work and my competitive rates, not to mention the fact that it is a point of pride with me to find the best word for a particular context in order to produce a translation that is adapted to the needs of my clients. Furthermore, I have always respected any deadlines given to me.
